These site/floor plans give a better idea of what will be involved with this home extension project at Wavell Heights that is now underway (see photos in our previous post). The side wall has been removed to extend the house out and a slab has been poured for the bedroom/rear gym addition. The team at Outback Edge Constructions has been hard at work on this exciting home extension project at Wavell Heights over the past month. The side wall has been removed to extend the house out and a slab has been poured for the bedroom/rear gym addition. A retaining wall has been added and the excavator is on site now so the new concrete pool can start to take shape! There’s still plenty of work ahead - the patio and garage extension on the lower level and then a bedroom/bath upstairs - and we can't wait to see it all come together!

Flashback to this project, at Grange, from a few (maybe more! 😜) years ago! The double block was split into 2 405sqm blocks, and the original home demolished, to make way for 2 modern, small lot homes. This new home being built at Stafford by Stewart Building Co., has larger windows than usual to take full advantage of the views out to Mt Cootha. There are also a number of butt-jointed glass windows too, to capture the views from a corner of a room without a support obstructing the view.

This atrium deserves a post all of its own! 😍

It doesn't just provide a beautiful focal point in this new home - recently built at Alderley - which is visible from multiple rooms and angles. It was Adrian's creative and practical solution to a problem that arose at the start of the design process - a manhole smack bang in the middle of the 600sqm block! Council records showed the stormwater pipe and manhole mapped 8m from where it was eventually located. It was initially mapped along the side boundary line but was eventually located right in the middle of the 15m x 40m site.
