👏

Yesterday we heard from Jacob from Excel Power about some impressive solar and automation projects, including a project in Thargomindah where solar is being used to power a bore and remote monitoring is helping reduce the need for regular physical inspections. The system can be monitored remotely, even from a long way away, making a big difference on a large property.

The farm currently requires around 27km of travel every day just to inspect equipment. With Starlink providing reliable connectivity across the property and Farmbot monitoring the bore pumps and other farm equipment, remote monitoring and automation can significantly reduce those trips, saving fuel, travel time and labour while still keeping a close eye on the equipment.

It’s a great example of how technology, solar and automation can work together to make farming more efficient and reduce the ongoing workload. The system is expected to pay for itself in approximately three years, with the ongoing savings of $37000 of diesel per year and benefits continuing well beyond that.

Cheap solar can cost you more than you think. Poor products and rushed workmanship can lead to serious problems later, loose racking, messy cabling, panels overhanging the roof, failing inverters, or worse.

And when the original installer disappears, getting support can be difficult. That’s why quality products, proper installation, and a trusted local team matter from day one.

Michael has been putting Excel Power’s new Training Room to good use, working alongside Australian Trade Training College to provide hands-on education and training for apprentice electricians.

It’s a great opportunity for apprentices to get practical exposure to some of the latest technology in solar, battery storage and renewable energy, while learning from real-world industry experience.

With the electrical industry changing rapidly, we’re proud to play a part in developing the skills of the next generation of electricians and helping them stay ahead of where the industry is heading.

Days 3 & 4 at Moombidary Station, and the system is complete ☀️

After a big few days on site - and a 2,000km round trip from Toowoomba out past Thargomindah - the Moombidary Station off-grid system is complete and commissioned.

The finished system includes:

- 25.76kW solar array – 56 × TCL Electronics 460W panels
- 54kWh Sigenergy APAC battery storage
- 30kW three-phase Sigenergy inverter/controller
- Sigenergy three-phase Gateway
- 30kVA generator with automatic start
- Panasonic air conditioning for the equipment room
- Starlink & security camera installation
- Aluminium & stainless-steel ground-mount racking

The system is designed to provide reliable, independent power in a seriously remote part of Queensland, with solar and battery taking care of everyday energy needs and the generator automatically stepping in when required.

From Toowoomba to Thargomindah and then even further out to Moombidary Station - it’s been a big few days, but a great result.

Another remote off-grid project complete. 👏

Day 2 at Moombidary Station 🌅

From bare racking to panels going on - plenty of progress from the Excel Power crew on Day 2.

With 56 TCL solar panels to install, there was no shortage of work, and even the station machinery was called in to lend a hand.

The scale of this system is really starting to show now. Once complete, it’ll provide Moombidary Station with a reliable off-grid power solution combining 25.76kW of solar, 54kWh of Sigenergy battery storage and automatic generator backup.

Remote jobs like this take plenty of planning, teamwork and a few long days, but the sunsets aren’t too bad either.

📍 Moombidary Station

Another remote project underway for the Excel Power team ☀️🔋

We’re out at Moombidary Station, building a serious off-grid energy system designed to provide reliable power well beyond the grid.

This installation includes 56 × TCL solar panels, a 30kW three-phase Sigenergy system with 54kWh of battery storage, three-phase Gateway and automatic generator start for additional backup when required.

Built on aluminium and stainless-steel racking and backed by long product warranties, this system has been designed for reliability in tough Australian conditions.

And as always, the entire installation and commissioning is being completed by the Excel Power team - no subcontractors.

A few shots from day one. Plenty more to come as this one takes shape.

China’s energy industry is moving fast. At SNEC in Shanghai, Excel Power saw firsthand how far solar, batteries, automated manufacturing, and EV adoption have come.

From massive clean factories to streets full of electric cars, it’s clear the global energy market is changing quickly. For Australian homeowners, the key is still choosing quality products, proper advice, and a trusted local installer who keeps up with where the industry is heading.
