ASCILITE is a leading Australasian educational community that fosters research, innovation and evidence–based practice in the effective use of educational technologies for learning and teaching in the tertiary sector. ASCILITE was formed in 1983 although its first three conferences from 1983 - 1985 were held under the CALITE (Computer Assisted Learning in Tertiary Education) banner. Since that time ASCILITE has grown into a vibrant professional community of innovators, leaders and scholars engaged with the application of technology to enhance teaching and learning in higher education. ASCILITE's dynamic membership includes practitioners in elearning research and development, instructional design, web applications, web services and interactive multimedia. The strategic aim of ASCILITE is to be a sustainable and vibrant society that encourages and supports quality research into, and exemplary use of technologies for teaching and learning in tertiary education throughout Australasia.
We’re excited to announce the 2026 Conference theme: The Future is Connection: Collaboration, Creativity and Compassion in a Digital Society. The theme invites us to explore how meaningful human connection continues to shape learning, teaching and educational innovation in an increasingly digital world.
We’re delighted to confirm our two keynote speakers for 2026: Maren Deepwell an internationally recognised coach and consultant in digital education and leadership, and Rene Kizilcec, Associate Professor of Information Science at Cornell University and Founding Director of the Future of Learning Lab. Together, their work spans digital leadership, learning across networks and contexts, and the human dimensions of educational technology.
