The face of a woman who just had her 5 yearly cervical screening done. šāāļø
Like so many women, life is busy especially balancing work and school holidays and itās easy to put these things off. But when that reminder comes around, please make the time.
If youāre aged 25ā74, cervical screening is recommended every five years. And if youāre eligible for routine screening, you now have the choice to do a self-collection test using a simple swab.
I was too old to get the HPV vaccine through the school program when it was introduced, but our kids now have access to something our generation didnāt. HPV vaccination, together with regular screening, is helping prevent cervical cancer and save lives.
Australia has set a goal to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem by 2035.
Mineās done for another five years. ā¤ļø
If yours is due, this is your reminder to book it in.

Good morning from Carindale! āļø
Today we celebrated not one but two Queensland winners in the 2026 Little Scientists Early STEM Education Awards, and both so close to home!
A huge congratulations to C&K Carindale Community Kindergarten in Bonner, recognised for an incredible 10-month project exploring the treasures in their own playground.
Our little scientists investigated local wildlife, created their own documentary using handycams, took part in the Aussie Bird Count and even brought what they learned into their daily Acknowledgement of Country.
And just down the road, Melanie Armstrong from Scenic Shores State School was recognised for making STEM part of everyday learning, including through the schoolās very own Chick Inn!
It was so lovely celebrating with Morgan, Melanie and Emma from Little Scientists Australia.
A big congratulations to our educators, and especially to all the curious little minds asking questions, exploring their world and coming up with big ideas.

Business Chamber Queensland are giving a voice to Queensland businesses.
As CEO of Business Chamber Queensland Heidi knows how important it is to advocate for small businesses across Bonner and our state.
It was great to see Heidi and chat about the great work the Council does to advocate for, inform, and connect small businesses across Queensland.
Businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and do so much to connect our communities. Thanks to Heidi for a great discussion and Iām looking forward to working together.

12 years ago, this little girl made me a mum for the very first time. ā¤ļø
You changed my whole world the day you arrived, and watching you grow is one of the greatest privileges of my life.
I love you more than words could ever say.
Happy 12th birthday, baby girl. ā¤ļø
Harassment. Abuse. Image-based violence. Harmful and misogynistic content.
What happens online can fuel attitudes and behaviours that cause very real harm offline.
Thatās why the Albanese Labor Government is taking the next step to hold Big Tech accountable through a world-leading Digital Duty of Care.
The proposed laws would require online services to identify risks and take reasonable steps to prevent foreseeable harm, putting more responsibility where it belongs, on the platforms themselves.
Because preventing violence against women means tackling the attitudes, behaviours and systems that enable it wherever they occur.
Online safety should be built in, not added as an afterthought.
