"Adapting Tourism Products for New Priority Markets: Improving access in the new EU market landscape, USPs, and preparing for trade fairs."

Elite Travel Group in association with RCC Triple P – Tourism Development and Promotion Project funded by EU, started today the free online webinar series aiming to provide a rapid response for the post-pandemic Western Balkan tourism sector to . The webinars target the travel agents and tourism boards from the region have a focus on rebuilding the tourism Industry of Western Balkans on new market realities and adapting the tourism products to the “New Normal”. The first webinar gathered participants from all WB6 and taught them how to successfully export to leading EU source markets through detailed information about trends and developments, (niche) market segments, and developing the right products. The participants gained a profound understanding of what B2B partners expect from them. The webinar has also focus on the importance of Unique Selling Points and how to optimize the corporate presentation on/offline including learning how to do an elevator pitch, the difference between B2C and B2B communication. During the webinar, special attention has also been given to the post-Covid era, health and safety, and sustainability practices. Finally, the webinar helped trainees to get better prepared for the upcoming trade fair participation of ITB Berlin.

The Regional Cooperation Council and its Triple-P Tourism Project are organizing the first regional FUTOURISMO competition, seeking innovative digital solutions that will help mitigate the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the heavily affected sector of tourism. The FUTOURISMO award ceremony will take place, tomorrow Tuesday, 2 March 2021, 11:00 (CET). Familiarization tour for Ski touring
In February 2021 a group of 14 people started a journey North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo*, conducting a ski tour in pristine nature and picturesque settings. This Familiarization Tour was organized by Explorer Travel & Tours Albania as part of the Regional Cooperation Project Triple P Tourism Development and Promotion – Ski Touring. The participants on this trip were representatives of Tour Operators and Travel Agencies from the Western Balkans. The purpose of this assignment was to provide assistance to the RCC Triple P Tourism in SEE project team and the tourism industry of the Western Balkans Six in the implementation of these Familiarization trips in accordance to the new ski touring and winter sports programmes designed for promoting adventure tourism in the Western Balkans.

The project aims to improve the quality of the tourism offer by: creating joint offer/products to foster regional integration in the tourism sector and its joint global promotion while diversifying tourism offer of the region; alleviating policy barriers to development of tourism industry and easing of administrative procedures; improving the level of services related to tourism; and supporting small-scale infrastructure projects to support the development of regional tourism products.

Illyricum Trail: A journey through the beginnings of time

The Roman period marked one of the longest periods of cultural dominances over the Western Balkans. Its archaeological sites, scattered across the region, tell the tale of ancient warriors, military doctrines, strategy, and tactics. They also explain the rhythm of communal life, arts, crafts, learning, and the foundations of European development. But even this powerful empire was not immune to the Balkans’ influences. Older local traditions, cults, beliefs and cultures from an entire peninsula found their way into the Roman religion.

While Roman archaeological sites have been included in thematic regional tourism routes throughout the Europe one such route was missing in the Western Balkans. Working to develop joint regional cultural tourism offers, the Regional Cooperation Council is now powering the region, though its European Union funded Tourism Development and Promotion Project, in developing Illyricum Trial, which runs through Western Balkans and showcases the “northern frontier” of the empire.
