Caribbean RADO

August was a busy month for the Caribbean RADO, culminating with the successful staging of our 2026 Annual General Meeting and Member Country Capacity Building Workshop in St Thomas, U.S Virgin Islands!

We express our sincerest thanks to the Government of the U.S Virgin Islands and the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation; the Virgin Islands Olympic Committee; the Virgin Islands Anti-Doping Organization; and the World Anti-Doping Organization for their support in facilitating a productive weekend for our Member Countries.

Emphasis was placed on preparations for the introduction of the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards during our Member Country Capacity Building Workshop.

During the week, Sports Commissioner Vincent Roberts and his team from the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation hosted a productive meeting with representatives from Caribbean RADO, the World Anti-Doping Agency, the Virgin Islands Olympic Committee and Virgin Islands Anti-Doping Organization.

We also conducted a special anti-doping education session for USVI National Sporting Federations outlining their roles and responsibilities in the Anti-Doping Movement.

Away from the meeting rooms, we were pleased to join with the VIOC in celebrating the milestone of their 60th Anniversary!

Today, we salute the Doping Control Officers from Caribbean RADO Member Countries who contirbuted to the successful ex*****on of the Anti-Doping Programme at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Santo Domingo!

Congratulations to Andy Hooghart 🇸🇷, Michelle Stoute 🇹🇹, Samantha Dickson 🇬🇩, Andy Otto 🇰🇳 and Jasper Blades 🇧🇧!

The 2026 World Anti-Doping Agency Regional Symposium in Lima, Peru provided an opportunity for the anti-doping community from across the Americas and further afield to connect, interact, and learn from each other as we move towards the introduction of the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code.

Dr. Karen Pilgrim, Chair of the Caribbean RADO noted the Symposium offered a great platform for networking with our regional counterparts while forging new relationships for future collaborations.

During the two-day event, Caribbean RADO's Marsha Boyce formed part of the panel examining the International Standard for Education, under the theme "Educating for Integrity - Clean Sport Starts with Learning".

The Caribbean region was well represented with delegates from Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago, drawn from National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs), National Olympic Committees (NOCs), National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and Governments.

The 3-day workshop is being conducted by trainers from Sport Integrity Canada / Sport Intégrité Canada.

We thank NADC Barbados for collaborating with us and facilitating the participation of DCOs from six other Caribbean RADO Member Countries (Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Curaçao, St. Lucia, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago).

The Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organization would like to express sincerest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Tessa Chadderton-Shaw.

Chadderton-Shaw served as Executive Director of the Caribbean RADO between 2010 and 2016.

On reflecting on the work of Chadderton-Shaw, Chair of the Caribbean RADO Dr. Karen Pilgrim said:

"Tessa was a key fixture in my personal introduction to anti-doping, first in my tole as a Doping Control Officer (DCO) and particularly in the development of testing and education programmes. We extend sincerest condolences to her family and friends."
