📱🇸🇷 Empowering data-driven development across the Caribbean in collaboration with CDB's Basic Needs Trust Fund!

📍 In Paramaribo, Suriname more than 65 representatives from government and civil society completed a four-day training led by Caribbean Development Bank and World Bank Group GEMS initiative on digital data collection and portfolio mapping.

🌐 Through tools like KoboToolbox, participating agencies are better equipped to move away from paper-based systems to:

✅real-time monitoring
✅stronger reporting
✅greater beneficiary engagement, including in remote communities.

💡Stronger evaluation systems lead to stronger development outcomes.

The Caribbean Development Bank's Office of Independent Evaluation is collaborating with CLEAR-LAC to strengthen national monitoring and evaluation systems across the Caribbean. Together, we are helping countries build institutional capacity, foster a culture of evidence use, and strengthen learning for better public decision-making.

This partnership is about more than tools and frameworks; it is about empowering governments and institutions to use evidence to improve policies, programmes, and ultimately, the lives of Caribbean people.

🌱Our recent joint mission with UK in Barbados and Eastern Caribbean included site visits for the Essex Valley and Southern Plains Agricultural Development Projects to engage project teams and observe progress in modern irrigation infrastructure, agro-processing and farmer support initiatives.

📊These transformative projects are helping to boost agricultural productivity, strengthen climate resilience and expand opportunities for farmers, including women and youth.

🚧 Advancing smarter, more resilient road networks across the Caribbean

🎤We're proud to have co-sponsored a pre-conference workshop on Performance-Based Contracts (PBCs) for Sustainable Road Asset Management ahead of the International Road Federation - IRF Global Caribbean Regional Congress 2026 in Guyana.

🛣️During the 2-day session, Caribbean Development Bank Programme Manager, Infrastructure Partnerships, Sharon Griffith, shared insights on the economic, social and environmental costs of deferred maintenance and the value of proactive road asset management.

🤝The lessons and recommendations generated from the workshop help inform our ongoing support to Borrowing Member Countries in strengthening road maintenance, asset management and infrastructure resilience.

Access to finance starts with strong financial institutions.

The Caribbean Development Bank has approved US$232,000 to strengthen Development Finance Institutions across the Caribbean through specialised training and innovative digital tools.

The initiative will help improve financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, renewable energy, climate resilience, and sustainable development – supporting businesses that drive jobs, innovation and economic growth across the Region.
