A beautiful & spacious restaurant serving amazing Thai food & now my current favorite one.

Sukumvit Thai Restaurant

Sukhumvit Thai is a restaurant with a relatively small dining space. Unfortunately, the owners seem to have gone overboard with the interior décor, filling the area with oversized decorative elements that make the restaurant feel quite congested.

Looking at the beautiful interior, I had high hopes for the food but I was utterly disappointed. Having visited Thailand countless times, I’m quite familiar with authentic Thai cuisine, which made the experience even more underwhelming.

🥗 Thai Som Tum Salad– 1,295tk
One of the worst Som Tum salads I’ve had. The portion size at this price was a joke. The papaya lacked the fresh crunch that makes this dish special, while the plate was mostly filled with large chunks of tomato, long beans, a whole egg, red chilies, a few peanuts, and shrimp.

🍚 Fried Rice with Chicken– 795tk
A very basic fried rice, but comparatively better than most of the other dishes. The portion size is for 2-3 people.

🍜 Chicken Pad Thai– 795tk
This was the standout item of the meal. While it’s not the best Pad Thai I’ve had, the flavors were balanced and enjoyable. This again can be shared by 2-3.

🥜 Stir-Fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts– 795tk
The portion was once again disappointing for the price. The dish contained fried chicken pieces, onions, bell peppers, carrots, and a few cashews. Taste-wise, it was acceptable but nothing memorable.

🦐 Steamed Seafood with Curry Paste– 1,295tk
Another major disappointment. At first glance, we thought it contained grated coconut, but the waiter confirmed otherwise. The curry was extremely heavy and overly concentrated, forcing us to eat only the seafood while avoiding the sauce. The spice combination and overall flavor profile simply did not work.

🥭 Mango Sticky Rice– 995tk
A complete disaster. The mangoes were so sour they could easily be used for pickles. We complained and had them replaced, but the second batch was just as sour.

Despite the Thai dancers, the lively Thai music, and the attentive service from the waiters, none of it was enough to save what was ultimately a very disappointing dining experience. Good ambiance can enhance a meal, but it cannot compensate for food that falls far below expectations.

Will I revisit or recommend this place?
Absolutely not.

Brewers Den

A small café tucked away in Banani with a cozy and comfortable ambiance. It’s not ideal for large groups, but perfect for a relaxed breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I discovered this place completely by chance when I stopped by with a friend for a late lunch. After visiting twice, here’s what stood out:

🥤 Summer Bliss– 245tk
As good as it looks. Light, refreshing, and not overly sweet, with a pleasant tang from the pineapple. If you’re a pineapple lover, this is a must-try & best part is that you get to enjoy the pineapple pieces served with the drink.

☕ Mocha Chilled (350ml)– 350tk
A well-balanced blend of coffee and chocolate. Not too heavy or overly creamy, making it an easy and enjoyable drink. Loved it too.

🍔 Smashed Beef Double Patty– 650tk
Easily one of the better burgers I’ve had in town. The beef quality was excellent, the patties had a nice char, and the burger was juicy and packed with flavor. Their homemade mustard adds a unique touch that really elevates the whole experience. My only complaint? Hand-cut fries would have suited this burger much better than the packet fries.

🌭 NY Style Hot Dog– 250tk
On my first visit, the toasted bun was a bit too hard for my liking, although I loved the sausage and their signature mustard. During my second visit, I requested an untoasted bun, which made a huge difference. The sausage isn’t the typical store bought version. It has a distinct taste and texture. Portion wise, it’s more of a snack than a filling meal, but definitely worth trying.

🥪 Salt Beef Quarter Pound– 485tk
Another favorite of mine. Thick, tender, slow-cooked brined beef brisket served on toasted white bread with mayo. The meat was flavorful and generously portioned, yet somehow left me wanting more. They offer larger portions as well, and I’ll definitely be trying the half-pound version next time. Again, it came with packet chips instead of house-made sides.

Overall, Brewer’s Den impressed me with its quality ingredients, homemade touches, and flavorful food. Definitely a spot I’d happily revisit.

📍 Fika

A newly opened café in Banani with a warm, cozy, and aesthetically pleasing ambiance that instantly makes you feel comfortable. Whether you’re looking for a place to catch up with friends, enjoy a family meal, or simply relax with good food and coffee, Fika offers a welcoming environment that’s perfect for spending a few hours.

🥤 Brazilian Lemonade – 350tk
I used to be a big fan of Nando’s Goa Lemon, and this gave me a similar vibe. Creamy, citrusy, and lightly sweet, it was refreshing without feeling heavy like a milkshake. A great drink for Dhaka’s hot weather.

🥖 Bread Basket – Complimentary
A simple but delicious start to the meal. Lightly toasted focaccia bread served warm with melted butter. Fresh, soft, and surprisingly addictive.

🍤 Prawn Toast – 550tk
A perfect starter. Crispy toast topped with prawn paste and cheese, fried to perfection. It was finished with sesame seeds and a dollop of chili jam, and served with a fresh, creamy coleslaw that balanced the richness of the toast beautifully. Definitely one of my favorite dishes of the meal.

🍝 French Onion Meatballs – 800tk
The flavors worked well together, though I personally think it would have been even better as a meatball pasta dish. As a meatball lover, I couldn’t resist ordering this. The meatballs were perfectly seasoned, soft, juicy, and packed with flavor, while the mashed potatoes were smooth, buttery, and comforting. A hearty dish overall.

🍔 Burger Beef – 900tk
Unfortunately, this wasn’t my favorite dish, although I loved the hand-cut fries that came with it. The burger featured a brioche bun, medium rare beef patty, melted cheese, and coleslaw. While the flavors were decent, the patty contained quite a bit of tissue/cartilage, which affected the overall eating experience for me.

🍰 Dudh Cha Cake – 450tk
This one wasn’t really for me. It consisted of soft toast biscuit soaked in tea, topped with Bangas biscuit and chai mousse. It was served with cold masala tea that you pour over the dessert before eating. The presentation and concept were unique, but it didn’t quite suit my personal taste ever though i am a huge fan of tea.

Overall, Fika made a good first impression with its cozy atmosphere, thoughtful menu, and a few standout dishes. While not every item was a hit for me, I enjoyed the experience and would definitely revisit to explore more of their menu.

Koryori

Any corndog fans here? My kids and I absolutely love corndogs, and one of our favorite places for them is Koryori. Their Uttara branch is very close to our home, so we often drop by or even send our guard to pick some up.

My son’s favorite is their Potato Corndog, which is coated with crispy potato cubes on the outside and filled with melted cheese and sausage inside. It’s crunchy, cheesy, filling, and incredibly satisfying. They also offer a version with only sausage, but we personally prefer the Half n Half option with both cheese and sausage because of the cheese. Even you can see in the pic how much my son is enjoying with the cheesepull😂.

Another thing we love is that you can choose from different sauces to top your corndog, making it even more delicious.

💰 Price:
🌭 Sausage Corndog – 320 BDT
🧀 Half n Half Corndog – 350 BDT

If you’re a corndog lover, this is definitely worth trying.

House Of Cakes

If you’ve been following me since the beginning, you probably know that this page was originally created to support and promote home chefs, especially women entrepreneurs. That’s what I focused on in the early days. Over time, life got busier, and I no longer had enough time to regularly receive homemade food, do photoshoots at home, and write detailed reviews. Since I work so i often dine out for lunch or dinner, reviewing restaurants became much more practical, so my content gradually shifted in that direction.

Now, about the Balushai…

Apu reached out to me and wanted me to try her signature Balushai. She mentioned that she even ships them abroad to customers and also supplies some of her specialty items to a well-known restaurant in Banani. That definitely caught my attention, so I agreed to try them.

The packaging was elegant and premium, presented in a beautiful white box. I especially loved how each Balushai was individually placed in cupcake liners, which made the presentation look neat and classy.

The Balushai itself looked incredibly tempting and had just the right level of sweetness. It tasted fresh and homemade, which I always appreciate. I did share a few suggestions with Apu, and I hope she’ll consider them moving forward.

If you’re looking for freshly made homemade Balushai, this is definitely worth trying.

💰 Price: 1100 BDT (14 pcs)

Vault Dhaka

Went to Vault Dhaka with high hopes. Despite seeing several negative reviews, I still wanted to give it a try and form my own opinion. As someone who loves exploring new restaurants, especially fine dining spots, I don’t mind paying a premium price if the food justifies it. Here’s what I ordered:

Kiss From a Rose – 700tk
One of the best drinks I’ve had in a long time. It was topped with a layer of cream, while the bottom had a rich strawberry purée with actual bits of strawberry in it. Absolutely heavenly and I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second glass.

Beef Enoki Roll – 1500tk
A starter consisting of thinly sliced beef wrapped around enoki mushrooms. This was another standout dish. If you’re planning to try just one item from here, make it this. It was flavorful, well executed, and worth every bite.

Seafood Fried Rice – 1400tk
A complete letdown. I had specifically requested that they avoid using crab, but it was still served. Thankfully, the crab was already shelled, making it easier to eat. Besides the crab, the dish included prawns and squid. Unfortunately, both the rice and seafood were extremely bland. The only flavor that stood out was the aroma of butter. The amount of seafood used was also disappointing considering the price point. Portion wise, it wasn’t generous either. If you’re a good eater, you could easily finish it on your own; otherwise, it can be shared between two.

Slow-Cooked Chicken Breast in Panaeng Sauce – 1800tk
Another disappointing dish. The chicken was bland and noticeably dry inside. While the Panaeng sauce was decent, rich, creamy, and packed with Thai curry flavors but it wasn’t enough to rescue the dish. At this price point, it felt like a major miss.

My partner and I couldn’t finish the mains at all. We ended up packing the food and heading to another restaurant because we were still hungry and hadn’t had a proper lunch earlier in the day.

I genuinely think Vault needs to improve the quality of its main courses if it wants to remain competitive in Dhaka’s growing dining scene. There is no shortage of restaurants serving exceptional food. While Vault undoubtedly has a stunning interior and beautiful ambiance, that alone won’t be enough to keep diners coming back. Atleast i won’t ever go back or recommend either. Even during Eid, the restaurant was almost empty while many other restaurants were fully booked, which says a lot about the overall dining experience.
