The July uprising was a collective achievement, made possible by the sacrifices of ordinary citizens and the contributions of all political parties. Every group that stood against the fascist regime deserves recognition.

At the same time one historical fact remains: Nahid Islam was the one who publicly announced the "One Point Demand" to the nation. That call inspired and mobilized millions of young people and countless other citizens to unite behind the movement.

Recognizing someone's contribution does not diminish your own it reflects fairness and maturity. Nahid Islam has never denied the role played by BNP or any other political force in the July uprising. Giving credit where it is due only strengthens mutual respect.
