Representing the Association for Community Development (ACD), Executive Director Salima Sarwar delivered a speech at the dialogue titled “Freedom of Expression: Advancing Awareness and Responsible Civic Engagement.” The event served as a dynamic platform for meaningful exchange, bringing together representatives from civil society, journalists, academia, legal professionals, youth, and other stakeholders to reflect on the indispensable role of freedom of expression in advancing human rights and nurturing a culture of responsible civic participation.
Through insightful discussions and shared perspectives, the dialogue reinforced the importance of inclusive engagement in strengthening democratic values and fostering a more just and accountable society.
The event was organized by Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) with the support of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Bangladesh.

Strengthening Child Protection in Humanitarian Action: Knowledge, Reflection, and Action from the Three-Day CPMS Workshop

Association for Community Development (ACD) proudly represented Bangladesh at the Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPHA) Technical Hubs Pilot Initiative Workshop, held from 27–29 July 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Representing ACD, I attended as the Technical Hub Focal, alongside Ms. Mantaka Akther, Alternative Focal. The workshop brought together child protection professionals from across the globe to strengthen technical capacity, exchange practical experiences, and enhance the application of the Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS) in humanitarian settings.

This valuable learning opportunity was made possible through the financial support of Plan International and the technical leadership of The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.

Key Knowledge Gained

Over three intensive days, the workshop deepened my understanding of several critical areas of child protection in humanitarian action, including:

Applying the Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS) throughout the humanitarian programme cycle.
Strengthening coordination and collaboration among government, UN agencies, NGOs, and community-based actors.
Conducting child protection risk analysis and context-specific assessments.
Improving child protection monitoring, information management, and ethical data collection using Protection Information Management (PIM) principles.
Integrating child participation, accountability, safeguarding, and inclusive approaches into programme design and implementation.
Enhancing preparedness, emergency response planning, and evidence-based decision-making.
Learning from country experiences and identifying practical solutions to common implementation challenges.
My Reflections

One of the most valuable lessons from the workshop was that technical standards only create impact when they are translated into practical action. Effective child protection requires strong coordination, quality data, ethical information management, meaningful community engagement, and continuous learning.

The discussions also highlighted that humanitarian contexts are becoming increasingly complex due to climate change, displacement, conflict, and other emergencies. These challenges reinforce the need for organizations to invest in preparedness, strengthen local capacity, and ensure that the best interests of the child guide every intervention.

The opportunity to exchange experiences with practitioners from different countries provided new perspectives and practical ideas that can be adapted to the Bangladesh context.

From Global Learning to Local Action

The knowledge and experience gained from this workshop will directly strengthen ACD's child protection programmes by:

- Improving the quality of child protection programming and humanitarian preparedness.
- Promoting the practical application of CPMS across projects and emergency responses.
- Strengthening staff capacity through internal learning and knowledge sharing.
- Enhancing child protection monitoring, information management, and evidence-based programming.
Supporting stronger coordination with government and humanitarian partners.
- Contributing to safer, more inclusive, and protective environments for children and their families.

As ACD continues its commitment to protecting children and strengthening community resilience, this global learning experience marks another important step toward building stronger, more effective child protection systems in Bangladesh.

Association for Community Development (ACD) এর উদ্যোগে এবং সুইজারল্যান্ড, কানাডা ও ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়নের সহযোগিতায় বাস্তবায়িত "Engage Now: Enhancing Engagement of Women, Youth, and Other Groups to Foster Accountability and Advance Human Rights Culture" প্রকল্পের আওতায় জেলা পর্যায়ের সরকারি কর্মকর্তাদের নিয়ে এ মতবিনিময় সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

সভায় বিভিন্ন সরকারি দপ্তরের সম্মানিত কর্মকর্তারা ও এনজিও প্রতিনিধিরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। আলোচনায় নারী, যুব ও অন্যান্য প্রান্তিক জনগোষ্ঠীর অংশগ্রহণ নিশ্চিত করা, মানবাধিকার সুরক্ষা, সুশাসন প্রতিষ্ঠা, সরকারি সেবার জবাবদিহিতা বৃদ্ধি এবং নাগরিকবান্ধব সেবা নিশ্চিতকরণে বিভিন্ন দিক নিয়ে গঠনমূলক মতবিনিময় হয়।

স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে সরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠান, সুশীল সমাজ এবং উন্নয়ন সংস্থার সমন্বিত উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে মানবাধিকারভিত্তিক সমাজ গঠন এবং জনগণের অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠায় এ ধরনের সংলাপ অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা নিজেদের অভিজ্ঞতা ও মতামত তুলে ধরেন এবং ভবিষ্যতে আরও কার্যকর সমন্বয় ও সহযোগিতার মাধ্যমে জনগণের দোরগোড়ায় মানসম্মত সেবা পৌঁছে দেওয়ার বিষয়ে গুরুত্বারোপ করেন।

এমন একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আয়োজনের সঙ্গে সম্পৃক্ত থাকতে পেরে আমি আনন্দিত ও গর্বিত। আশা করি, এই ধরনের উদ্যোগ স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে জবাবদিহিতা বৃদ্ধি, মানবাধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠা এবং একটি অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক সমাজ বিনির্মাণে কার্যকর ভূমিকা রাখবে।

প্রকল্প কর্মীদের শিশু সুরক্ষা বিষয়ক প্রশিক্ষণ অনুষ্ঠিত

আজ ২৮ জুলাই ২০২৬ তারিখে Association for Community Development (ACD)-এর ট্রেনিং রুমে প্রকল্পের কর্মীদের অংশগ্রহণে শিশু সুরক্ষা (Child Protection) বিষয়ক একটি প্রশিক্ষণ সফলভাবে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। Free A Girl এবং ZEEMAN-এর আর্থিক সহযোগিতায় আয়োজিত এই প্রশিক্ষণের মূল উদ্দেশ্য ছিল শিশু সুরক্ষা নীতি, শিশুদের প্রতি সহিংসতা, নির্যাতন, শোষণ ও অবহেলা প্রতিরোধ, নিরাপদ কর্মপরিবেশ নিশ্চিতকরণ, কেস শনাক্তকরণ, রেফারেল ব্যবস্থা এবং শিশুদের সর্বোত্তম স্বার্থে দায়িত্বশীল ও সংবেদনশীলভাবে কাজ করার বিষয়ে প্রকল্প কর্মীদের জ্ঞান ও দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধি করা। প্রশিক্ষণে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা শিশু সুরক্ষার মৌলিক নীতি, আচরণবিধি (Code of Conduct), ঝুঁকি শনাক্তকরণ, রিপোর্টিং প্রক্রিয়া এবং বাস্তবভিত্তিক কেস স্টাডির মাধ্যমে কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণের কৌশল সম্পর্কে ধারণা লাভ করেন। শিশুদের জন্য একটি নিরাপদ, সুরক্ষিত ও সহিংসতামুক্ত পরিবেশ গড়ে তুলতে দক্ষ মানবসম্পদ তৈরির এই উদ্যোগ ভবিষ্যতে প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নে আরও কার্যকর ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে আমরা বিশ্বাস করি।

ACD on the Global Stage: Advancing Child Protection for Every Child

Association for Community Development (ACD) proudly represented Bangladesh at the Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPHA) Technical Hubs Pilot Initiative Workshop, held from 27–29 July 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Representing ACD, Mr. Subrata Kumar Paul, Technical Hub Focal, and Ms. Mantaka Akther, Alternative Focal, joined global child protection experts to strengthen technical capacity, exchange knowledge, and learn innovative approaches to protecting children in humanitarian settings.

This important learning opportunity was made possible through the financial support of Plan International and the technical leadership of The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.

The knowledge and experience gained will directly strengthen ACD's child protection programmes in Bangladesh by enhancing preparedness, promoting quality humanitarian responses, and ensuring safer, more protective environments for vulnerable children.

সুস্থ পরিবার, নিরাপদ শৈশব — ইতিবাচক অভিভাবকত্বেই গড়ে উঠুক আগামীর বাংলাদেশ।

আজ ২৩ জুলাই ২০২৬ তারিখে রাজশাহী সিটি কর্পোরেশনের ১৯ নং ওয়ার্ডের শিরোইল কলোনীতে শিশুদের প্রতি ইতিবাচক অভিভাবকত্বের বিকাশ ও আচরণ উন্নয়ন বিষয়ক একটি অভিভাবক সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

সভায় শিশুদের প্রতি ভালোবাসাপূর্ণ ও সম্মানজনক আচরণ, ইতিবাচক শাসন পদ্ধতি, শিশুর মানসিক ও সামাজিক বিকাশ, নিরাপদ পারিবারিক পরিবেশ নিশ্চিতকরণ, শিশুদের মতামতের প্রতি গুরুত্ব প্রদান এবং সকল ধরনের সহিংসতা, নির্যাতন ও অবহেলা প্রতিরোধে অভিভাবকদের করণীয় বিষয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করা হয়। অংশগ্রহণকারী অভিভাবকরা তাদের বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতা বিনিময় করেন এবং শিশুদের সুস্থ বিকাশে পরিবার, সমাজ ও শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানের সমন্বিত ভূমিকার ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন।

শিশুদের জন্য একটি নিরাপদ, স্নেহময় ও সহিংসতামুক্ত পরিবেশ গড়ে তুলতে এ ধরনের সচেতনতামূলক উদ্যোগ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে আমরা বিশ্বাস করি।

শিক্ষাই কিশোরীদের ক্ষমতায়নের অন্যতম প্রধান হাতিয়ার।

২৩ জুলাই ২০২৬ তারিখে এ্যাসোসিয়েশন ফর কমিউনিটি ডেভেলপমেন্ট (এসিডি)-এর প্রশিক্ষণ কক্ষে "Teachers Training on Education for Formal and Non-Formal Adolescent Girls" শীর্ষক একদিনব্যাপী প্রশিক্ষণ সফলভাবে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

প্রশিক্ষণে বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষকবৃন্দ অংশগ্রহণ করেন এবং কিশোরীদের জন্য অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক, নিরাপদ ও মানসম্মত শিক্ষা নিশ্চিতকরণ, বিদ্যালয় থেকে ঝরে পড়া রোধ, আনুষ্ঠানিক ও অনানুষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষা কার্যক্রমের সমন্বয়, জীবনদক্ষতা শিক্ষা এবং শিশু সুরক্ষাবান্ধব শিক্ষার পরিবেশ তৈরির বিভিন্ন বিষয় নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়।

প্রশিক্ষণটি পরিচালনা করেন এস. এম. আহসান উল্লাহ সরকার (রিপন), প্রোজেক্ট কো-অর্ডিনেটর এবং হুমায়ন কবির, এরিয়া ম্যানেজার।

এই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রশিক্ষণ বাস্তবায়নে আর্থিক সহযোগিতা প্রদান করে স্ট্রমি ফাউন্ডেশন।

এসিডি বিশ্বাস করে, দক্ষ ও সচেতন শিক্ষকই কিশোরীদের জন্য নিরাপদ, বৈষম্যহীন এবং মানসম্মত শিক্ষার পরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন। এ ধরনের উদ্যোগ কিশোরীদের শিক্ষা, আত্মবিশ্বাস ও ভবিষ্যৎ গঠনে ইতিবাচক অবদান রাখবে।

স্থান: বারঘরিয়া বাজার, পালপাড়া, চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ সদর উপজেলা, চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ।

শিশুর নিরাপদ, স্নেহময় ও সহিংসতামুক্ত পরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে আজ বারঘরিয়া বাজারের পালপাড়ায় "পজিটিভ প্যারেন্টিং" বিষয়ক একটি সচেতনতামূলক সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।

সভায় অংশগ্রহণকারী অভিভাবকদের সঙ্গে শিশুর প্রতি ভালোবাসাপূর্ণ আচরণ, ইতিবাচক শাসন পদ্ধতি, শিশুর মতামতকে গুরুত্ব দেওয়া, মানসিক বিকাশে পরিবারের ভূমিকা এবং শারীরিক ও মানসিক শাস্তির ক্ষতিকর প্রভাব নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করা হয়।

বক্তারা বলেন, একজন শিশুর সুস্থ বিকাশের জন্য প্রয়োজন নিরাপদ, স্নেহশীল ও সহানুভূতিশীল পারিবারিক পরিবেশ। ইতিবাচক অভিভাবকত্বের মাধ্যমে শিশুদের আত্মবিশ্বাস, মূল্যবোধ ও সামাজিক দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধি পায় এবং সহিংসতা ও নির্যাতনের ঝুঁকি কমে।

এই আয়োজনের মাধ্যমে অভিভাবকদের মধ্যে সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি, শিশুর অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠা এবং পরিবারভিত্তিক সুরক্ষা ব্যবস্থা আরও শক্তিশালী করার প্রত্যাশা করা হয়।
