Celebrating International Translation Day 🌍

Today, we want to thank the colleagues who help our message reach the world by translating posts, articles and technical content across multiple languages.

By making information accessible, clear and accurate, they support collaboration and strengthen relationships across markets and cultures.

In a global industry like plastics and polymers, translation does more than convert words. It helps facilitate collaboration, keeps knowledge flowing and strengthens relationships with customers and partners worldwide.

To everyone who has helped translate content for Ultrapolymers: Thank you! Your work connects people, bridges languages, and brings our global community closer together. 🤝

Moisture is one of the few quality parameters that change after the material leaves the supplier.

A batch that met specification at dispatch can pick up moisture during transport, in storage, or on the shop floor before it ever reaches the machine. For hygroscopic polymers, this happens faster than most people expect.

The consequences show up downstream: splay and surface defects, reduced mechanical strength, hydrolytic degradation in materials like PET and polyamides. By the time the part is moulded, the cause is no longer obvious.

Which leaves a practical question: how do you know your resin is actually dry?

Our new Academy module, created with Mettler-Toledo International, Inc , works through what moisture does across polymer families and how it is measured in practice. 20 minutes, and available now.

Colour plays an important part in bringing a brand to life.

Behind the scenes, our team has been exploring shades, comparing samples and making sure the colours used across our FAKUMA stand feel unmistakably Ultrapolymers.

However, colour is about much more than branding.

For our customers, the right colour can be an important part of a product’s identity, appearance and final application. From moulded-in-colour automotive components and medical devices to electrical housings and consumer products, tailored coloured compounds can help bring ideas to life.

At Fakuma Messe , our team will be ready to discuss your application and explore how our material expertise, technical support and access to bespoke compound solutions could help move your project forward. Ultrapolymers’ application portfolio includes moulded-in-colour automotive components, medical-device housings, connectors and electrical enclosures.

We’re pleased to launch a new Academy module: Mastering Moisture Control in Polymers, created in collaboration with Mettler-Toledo International, Inc.

Moisture is one of the most consequential variables in polymer processing, and one of the hardest to see. It affects melt behaviour, surface quality, mechanical strength, and long-term performance. For many engineering polymers, tolerances are tight and getting it right depends on two things: the right tool, and the right method.

Mettler Toledo brings decades of expertise in halogen moisture analysis for the plastics industry, including validated drying methods for more than twenty polymer families and recognition under ASTM D6980. We bring the material knowledge and the learning design. Together, the module covers what moisture does to polymers, how the main measurement methods compare, and the practical disciplines that make results reliable.

If you work with hygroscopic or moisture-sensitive materials, whether in purchasing, quality, technical support, or production, this module gives you a clearer basis for the decisions you make every day.

Twenty minutes. Practical throughout. No prior expertise required.

When exhibiting at a Trade Show, there is always more going on behind the scenes than you might imagine

We usually show you the finished result, but this year we wanted to share a glimpse of the work that goes into preparing for FAKUMA.

Here is Meggy working on some of the assets you will see at the show. It takes plenty of planning, creativity and teamwork to bring an exhibition presence together.

The same is true when bringing a product to market. Behind every successful application is considerable work, from identifying the right material and designing the part, to running simulations, exploring regulatory requirements, navigating technical challenges, and building a reliable supply solution.

At FAKUMA, the Ultrapolymers team will be ready to discuss your products, applications and challenges, and explore how our polymers, our people and our solution-focused approach could support you.

Come and see our stand in all its glory at Fakuma Messe.

Summer's a wrap. Time to get back to learning.

As schedules fill up again and learning moves back into focus, there's no better time to build your understanding of one of the plastics industry's most important product categories: film.

Plastic films play a vital role in modern life, from food packaging to medical devices, cosmetics, agriculture and automotive applications. Our Introduction to Film course offers a practical foundation in film production and film structures, helping learners understand how these versatile products are designed and manufactured.

Throughout the course, you'll discover:
🟠 How films are produced, from an extrusion refresher through to blown film, cast film, double bubble and tenter/stenter processes;
🟠 The differences between cast, blown and biaxially oriented film technologies;
🟠 The polymers most commonly used in film applications, including PE, PP, EVOH, PA and SBC;
🟠 Real-world examples from packaging, healthcare, agriculture and automotive markets.

Whether you're new to the plastics industry or looking to strengthen your understanding of film technology, this Level 1 course offers a clear introduction to the materials, processes and applications that shape the world of plastic films.

📚 International Literacy Day | Learning Starts with Reading

Today, we celebrate books, reading and the ideas that shape how we see the world.
8 September marks International Literacy Day, a reminder that literacy opens doors to opportunity, innovation, and lifelong learning.

At Ultrapolymers, we believe learning never stops. Whether it's a technical handbook that deepens your expertise, a business book that challenges your thinking, or a novel that broadens your perspective, every page has the potential to teach us something new.

The most inspiring professionals we know share a common habit: they're always learning.
📖 So here's our question for you:

What book has genuinely made a difference in your career, your mindset, or your everyday life?

Drop the title (and why!) in the comments. 👇

We're building a community reading list and would love to discover your recommendations.
