Edmée
Official page of Edmée Daenen. Belgian singer, songwriter and breast cancer survivor. Billboard Hot 100.
Edmée Daenen is a Belgian singer, songwriter and performer known for her 2005 US Billboard Top 10 hit 'Listen to you Heart' together with DHT. Her name may not immediately ring a bell but you will definitely recognize her voice! After starting out as a studio singer at the age of 15, Edmée's big musical breakthrough came in 2005 with the release of her international hit single 'Listen to your Heart'. The dance version of the Roxette cover became a guaranteed floor filler in clubs while Edmée's Unplugged piano version was praised by mainstream radio and topped Top 10 charts around the world. Edmée made music history in her native country because to this day she is one of only four Belgian artists to have made it to the U.S. (Billboard Hot 100 - No. 8; Billboard Pop Airplay/Mainstream Top 40 - No.1). Under the moniker "DHT featuring Edmée" Edmée released an album from which several singles were released ("Someone," "I go Crazy" and "I Miss You"). The European follow-up single 'Heaven is a Place on Earth, an '80s classic made famous by American singer Belinda Carlisle, touched a nerve once again as Edmée was praised by songwriter Ellen Shipley who loved her voice and interpretation of the song. For years Edmée toured around the world performing with DHT featuring Edmée to sold-out venues and clubs. Known for her authentic live performances she appeared on numerous American talk shows such as the much-viewed morning show "Live with Regis & Kelly" where she was a guest alongside actor Michael Clarke Duncan ("The Green Mile") and tennis players Venus and Serena Willams. The Belgian singer conquered numerous hearts and as a result often performed as a support act for various international artists including the Backstreet Boys, Pussycat Dolls and Rihanna. Listen To Your Heart eventually grew out to become a widely played evergreen on many international radio stations. After her musical adventure with DHT, Edmée decided to focus more on songwriting and retreated behind the scenes. She wrote songs for other Belgian artists while often lending her vocals too. In 2016 Edmée was diagnosed with breast cancer, something she spoke openly about on her social media making her an advocate for more awareness about the disease. In the period that followed, the singer was forced to take a break from music and performances while she focused on her treatment and recovery. A transformed Edmée then decided to return to school and after three intense years she graduated magna cm laude in 2021 with a Bachelor degree in Business Management & Marketing. Edmée’s attendance on Belgian television show "Canvas Pop Night" that same year contained a prophecy as she indicated during her much-anticipated interview that she was once again nurturing musical plans. The singer spoke about her travels and performances in America and the rest of the world, but also shone a light on the dark side she had experienced as a young singer in the music industry. Belgian newspapers ‘Het Laatste Nieuws’ and ‘Het Nieuwsblad’ were intrigued by Edmée's story and devoted no less than two pages to her personal and musical history. For the past two years Edmée has been quietly working on a musical comeback. She found a musical ally in Belgian producer Yannic Fonderie and she spent all her free time in his studio in Haacht, Belgium writing and recording her own songs. It was crystal clear that Edmée had a lot to say after all these years! Stronger, determined and with a suitcase filled with wisdom and intriguing stories Edmée is finally ready to reintroduce herself to the world. With songs of her own this time, which are all infused with her love of American pop and country and inspired by personal experiences. This Belgian singer, songwriter and survivor will take us on a road trip through her own memory lane, as Edmée’s songs tell a heartfelt story and show the singer as she is: resilient, full of fighting spirit and ready to reclaim her place in the spotlight.

Every song starts somewhere.
For me, it always starts with something real.
