Shortly before 5:00pm on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, police officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the vicinity of Washington Mall and Queen Street in the City of Hamilton.

Initial enquiries indicate that the incident involved two high school aged males.

One of the young males sustained an injury to his leg during the incident and was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. His injury is not believed to be life threatening.

The other young male was arrested in connection with the incident. Police enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant information or video footage, is urged to contact the Bermuda Police Service on 211 at the earliest opportunity.

Update: The male motorcycle rider hurt in Sunday afternoon’s reported serious single vehicle collision along Crow Lane, Pembroke – understood to be a 44-year-old Pembroke resident – was later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Original Statement: Around 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, 27 September 2026, police and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a serious single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle at the junction of Crow Lane and Lane Hill, Pembroke.

Details are limited at this time. However, it is believed that the male motorcycle rider struck a wall and sustained a head injury.

The scene is currently being forensically examined and traffic is being diverted around the area.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible and use alternative routes.

Continued traffic abatement efforts by the Bermuda Police Service (BPS), resulted in more than fifty people being ticketed for various traffic offences on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Working in conjunction personnel from the Traffic Control Department, the team focused their attention on the western end of the island.

A total of 55 MVTs were issued:
• Speeding – 27 (Highest recorded speed, 90 KMPH)
• Seatbelt offences – 23
• Window tint offences - 4
• No driver's license - 1

Officers also stopped and ticketed an adult female riding an e-bike clocked at 67 KMPH.

There were two arrests made. The first, involved a twenty-year-old male who was found with a large knife as well as a quantity of suspected drugs.

The other arrest involved a person with five outstanding traffic warrants.

Of the 23 persons ticketed for seatbelt offences, seven were minibus drivers.

Inspector Anthony Smith of the BPS Tactical Operations Division, reminded: “Persons riding electric bikes should be aware that they are subject to the same traffic laws as they relate to speeding for any other vehicle. Persons operating these vehicles can expect to be ticketed if found traveling at excessive speeds.”

Please be reminded, if you ride an e-bike, it must be licensed and insured by October 31, 2026.

Around 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 police officers were conducting traffic abatement operations in the area of Barnes Corner, Southampton, when they had cause to stop a motorcycle carrying two persons.

The pillion passenger, a 20-year-old male, got off the bike and officers observed a belt clip which appeared to hold a folding knife.

They then conducted a search of the person and recovered a knife in his waistband. The item was seized and the male was arrested for having a bladed article in a public place.

A further search of his person revealed several paper twists containing suspected controlled drugs.

He was further arrested for possession of controlled drugs. The subject was subsequently transported to the Hamilton Police Station and detained.

Superintendent Arthur Glasford, of the Tactical Division, stated: “Traffic abatement operations may involve speed checks as well checks for compliance with traffic laws, but during these operations officers are also on the lookout for persons who may have illegal items in their possession.”

“These include weapons and drugs. There have been a number of persons found with knives and other bladed or pointed weapons in their possession. Please be advised that persons found in possession of these items without lawful excuse will be arrested and brought before the courts.”

On Monday, September 21, 2026, officers from the Tactical Operations Division of the Bermuda Police Service (BPS), conducted a targeted operation, which resulted in the arrest of a male in connection with an incident which occurred on Front Street, City of Hamilton, at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, 12th September 2026.

The arrest relates to an altercation captured on CCTV, during which the male is alleged to have brandished a large knife.

During the operation, officers recovered a large knife believed to be of evidential significance to the investigation. The item has been seized and will be subject to further examination.

The matter remains under investigation as enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
