Coach Aaron Dyer
The first person to bring Brazilian jiu-jitsu to Bermuda and the highest ranked native Bermudian on the island - a brown belt under Professor Elliott Bayev. Aaron has been training for eight years and is one of few locals who compete in professional tournaments, having just fought at the Masters World Championships in Las Vegas, the biggest tournament in the world, boasting 4300 competitors. A father of four who, having worked in residential treatment services teaching lifeskills to troubled youth, Aaron cares deeply about the future of Bermuda. A police officer for the last four years, he sees OpenMat as a way to not only bring world class training to the island, but to strengthen and uplift its people. Professor Chris Regan
Professor Chris is a 1st Degree Black Belt under Braulio Estima, a highly accomplished, active competitor and a fun, passionate, articulate instructor. He is an experienced and highly qualified United Kingdom police officer, of 17+ years service, brought to the island to work alongside Bermuda's specialised Armed Response Unit. An undefeated MMA fighter and an active BJJ competitor with legendary pedigree, Chris brings cutting edge, world-class jiu-jitsu to OpenMat Bermuda. Here are just some of his accomplishments:

Professor Elliott Bayev
A World silver medalist and Canadian champion, Professor Elliott is a first degree BJJ Black Belt under Shawn Williams, one of the first American Black Belts under the legendary Renzo Gracie. A 20+ year veteran and one of the first BJJ practitioners in Toronto, Professor Elliott built OpenMat into a school known for its super welcoming, beginner-friendly atmosphere, world-class instruction and elite competition training. Professor Elliott believes in the ability for an OpenMat martial arts academy to uplift any community in which it resides and is elated to witness the birth of OpenMat Bermuda with such a fantastic team of instructors!
