Bermuda

This week’s key was found at Mitchell House! 🔑

This was the home of William Archer, a man born into enslavement who went on to build a life of success after gaining his freedom. Alongside his wife Isabella, he ran a business and accumulated significant wealth at a time when opportunities were limited.

Their story reflects resilience, determination, and the strength of Bermuda’s free Black community in the 19th century.

Attention Treasure Hunters! This week’s key has been found (by a second time winner, no less)!

This week’s key was hidden at the Sally Bassett Statue. Sally Bassett was an enslaved Bermudian woman executed in 1730. Her story is one of resistance, courage, and moral conviction. Today, she is remembered by many as a national heroine.

Her statue faces the rising sun each day, intentionally turned away from the centers of power, symbolizing defiance and dignity.

Her legacy continues to spark important conversations about justice, history, and how we remember the past.
