We are pleased to support Bermuda Is Love and the Bermuda Autonomous Tenants Association (BATA) as they continue their campaign.

The remaining August sessions held at the Human Rights Commission will provide opportunities for tenants to learn, connect, organize and access practical support around housing issues.

Housing rights matter. Access to information matters. Community matters.

Tenants and community members came together for our first event: a Tenant Rights Workshop hosted in partnership with the Bermuda Autonomous Tenants Association.

The workshop provided an opportunity for tenants to learn more about their rights and responsibilities, better understand Bermuda’s housing laws, and discuss practical ways to respond to housing challenges.

Knowledge is an important part of tenant power. But knowing your rights is only the beginning. When tenants share knowledge, support one another, and organize collectively, we can build the power needed to improve housing conditions and fight for housing justice.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to the Human Rights Commission for helping make the workshop possible.

This is only the beginning.

Public engagement with the Human Rights Commission continued to grow in 2025.

Compared with 2024, the number of queries received increased by 24%, while formal complaints increased by 16%. These figures highlight the importance of ensuring people know their rights and where they can turn for guidance and support.
