🏉 BRU Empowerment Courses Underway in Shakawe

The Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) Empowerment Courses are currently underway at Popagano CJSS in Shakawe, with participants drawn from villages around Shakawe and Xakao Sports Trust.

The programme covers a range of rugby development areas, including First Aid, coaching, player development and other essential rugby skills. The aim is to equip local coaches and sports personnel with the knowledge and practical skills required to support the growth and safe development of rugby within their communities.

The programme will conclude with a mini rugby festival, providing an opportunity for the coaches to demonstrate and assess their understanding of the skills covered during the courses.

What is TAFISA?

TAFISA stands for The Association For International Sport for All—a global movement promoting sport and physical activity as tools for healthier, more inclusive and connected communities.

Botswana is an active member of TAFISA through the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC), supporting initiatives that promote Sport for All, physical activity, inclusion, youth and community development.

🇧🇼 Botswana has also participated in TAFISA initiatives, including World Walking Day and other community-based programmes.

What a fantastic way to kick off the 2026 Rugby 7s at the just-ended BIUST 7s Tournament! 🔥👏
