Today for International Literacy Day, our Teacher Training team is facilitating interactive read-aloud sessions across elementary classrooms in Belize! Students listened attentively, shared their ideas, and connected stories to their own lives, strengthening listening, comprehension, and vocabulary skills.

This August, we gathered our brilliant tertiary (college) scholars for their fall orientation. It was a wonderful time of professional development, goal-setting, and preparing for the exciting academic year ahead.

To set them up for success, we were thrilled to hand out brand-new laptops to our college students! 💻 Having the right technology means they can research, write, and study without boundaries.

Strong families create strong communities! Yesterday and today, our Sponsorship Plus team—led by three of our rockstar female mentors, Sharlen, Kairie, and Rheana—hosted an in-depth Parent Facilitation Training. Equipping our team with practical tools allows us to walk alongside caregivers as they guide, inspire, and support their students at home.

This summer, our scholars gathered for a powerful spiritual retreat centered on a theme our world needs more than ever: courageous leadership.

To bring this theme to life, our students got creative! They split into groups to write, rehearse, and perform original skits inspired by the biblical stories of Esther and Ruth. Using these stories, students reflected on the importance of:
🙏 Trusting in God's plan and purpose for their lives.
💪 Overcoming fear to speak up and stand in the corner of peers who are being treated unfairly.
💛 Remembering that true leadership is never about power, but rather about serving, listening, and protecting others.

At PathLight, our 400+ hours of annual wraparound care go far beyond academics. We are committed to pouring into the character, faith, and hearts of these young leaders so they can step out and shape the future of Belize.
