🎉 Celebrating CDCD’s 2026 Annual General Meeting!

We recently came together for our 56th Annual General Meeting (AGM) to reflect on another meaningful year of serving Durham Region, recognize important milestones, and look ahead to the opportunities and work to come.

Guided by this year’s theme, “Trusted Service. Impacting Lives. Transforming Communities,” the evening celebrated the dedication of our staff and volunteers and recognized the valued partnerships that continue to strengthen our work across the community.

We were grateful to hear meaningful messages from our Executive Director, Board members, political leaders, and keynote speaker. We also heard from our staff and volunteers, who shared reflections on the year’s work, achievements, and impact, complemented by special performances throughout the evening.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to this meaningful occasion. We extend our sincere appreciation to our staff, volunteers, speakers, community partners, and vendors whose dedication and contributions made our 2026 AGM a true success.

As we reflect on another year, we are reminded that trusted service builds meaningful connections, meaningful connections impact lives, and together, we transform communities. 💚

We have incredible news to share! 📖💚

Congratulations to CDCD and the participants of the Seniors for Seniors by Seniors (S3) Project on the launch of our incredible book, Seniors for Seniors by Seniors (S3) Project: Stories of Adventure, Resilience and Adaptation!

Yesterday, in celebration of National Seniors Day, we gathered with seniors and community members to celebrate this special milestone. The book captures the experiences, perspectives, and journeys in Canada of seniors connected through the S3 Project, creating a space for their voices, stories, and knowledge to be shared.

We heard directly from the writers as they reflected on their stories and were honoured to welcome Deputy Mayor Sterling Lee, MPP for Ajax, Rob Cerjanec, and staff members from Durham Region, who shared remarks in celebration of our seniors. We also sincerely thank our senior members who shared special musical performances with us, bringing joy to this memorable event.

A heartfelt thank you to our S3 Project coordinators, writers, CDCD staff, and volunteers for their dedication, creativity, and valuable contributions to bringing this event to life and making this publication a success.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our seniors and the launch of this meaningful publication! 💚

📖 The S3 Project digital book is now available online! Visit our website to read the book and share it with your networks:https://www.cdcd.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/seniors-for-seniors-book-project.pdf

Today we honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, a time to reflect, learn, and recognize the ongoing impacts of residential schools on Indigenous Peoples, families, and communities. 🧡

At CDCD, our staff came together for a session led by Angela Conners, who shared the significance of Orange Shirt Day, discussed the residential school system, and demonstrated a smudging ceremony, creating space for learning and reflection.

Orange Shirt Day honours the children impacted by residential schools, as well as Survivors, their families, and communities. It reminds us that Every Child Matters and recognizes the lasting impacts of the residential school system.

We invite our community to honour this day by wearing orange, learning, listening to Indigenous voices, and supporting Indigenous-led initiatives. Together, we can continue to learn, reflect, and take meaningful action toward reconciliation.
