The Ontario government is expanding access to skilled trades certification in Northern Ontario by opening a new apprenticeship exam testing centre in Kenora. Previously, many apprentices had to travel long distances to write their exams.

By making certification more accessible, this new centre will help apprentices complete their training closer to home and support the growing demand for skilled trades workers across the province. 👷

Here’s a look at Cohort 82 at the Ontario Masonry Training Centre! 🧱👷

Participants are learning about the masonry trade by using tools and mortar to build walls with concrete blocks. This hands-on training is helping them develop foundational skills in measuring, laying blocks, and working with materials commonly used on construction sites.

Here’s a look at Cohort 82 during their tour of Carpenters’ Local 27! 🔨🏗️

Participants learned about the carpentry trade, explored the training facilities, and gained insight into the skills, tools, and career opportunities available to carpenters. It was a valuable opportunity to learn more about the trade and the pathways into the industry.
