Dr. Basta practices at Enhanced Care Clinic at St. George Medical Centre, where he provides primary and walk-in care for patients of all ages. He offers care in English and Arabic and works with other healthcare professionals to support each patient’s needs.

October 1, 2026 - GotoDoctor is pleased to announce that it has been selected as Melanoma Canada’s exclusive national Primary Care access partner, establishing a partnership to connect Canadians with physician and Primary Care services and strengthen the continuum of care surrounding Melanoma Canada’s Mole Mobile initiative.

The Mole Mobile, presented by Neutrogena and operating with the partnership and support of the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA), brings skin cancer screening, education and early detection directly into communities across Canada, with a focus on improving access for populations that may face barriers to traditional care. The initiative combines community-based screening and education with opportunities for Canadians to better understand their skin health and seek appropriate follow-up care.

Based on the latest survey from the OurCare project, approximately 6 million Canadians do not have a family doctor, nurse practitioner or other primary care provider, while only 37% of those with a provider report being able to access urgent care on the same or next day. GotoDoctor will provide Melanoma Canada with access to primary care services through its national physician network, care navigation capabilities and proprietary AI-enabled healthcare platform. The platform is designed to match patients with the appropriate care resource based on their needs, available services and care pathways, helping create a connected journey from community-based screening and education to timely clinical follow-up. With more than 100 family physicians, specialists and providers, together with an established clinic network, GotoDoctor provides the infrastructure and reach to support access to both virtual and in-person care across provinces and communities.

A National Primary Care Access Partnership

As Melanoma Canada continues to advance access to skin cancer education, screening and early detection, GotoDoctor will serve as its exclusive Primary Care access partner.

The partnership will leverage:

AI-Enabled Care Matching - Using GotoDoctor’s proprietary Service Engine to help match patients with appropriate physicians, care settings and healthcare resources based on their needs and available care pathways.
National Physician Access - Connecting Melanoma Canada to GotoDoctor’s physician network and Primary Care services across Canada.

Building on Proven Impact

Since its launch in 2023, the Mole Mobile has screened 22,483 Canadians across all 10 provinces and identified more than 3,184 suspicious lesions. These screenings have helped connect Canadians with potentially life-saving follow-up care, enabling earlier attention to lesions that may require further assessment.

By bringing screening and education directly into communities, the Mole Mobile continues to help reduce barriers to early detection and support Canadians in navigating the next steps in their skin health.

The partnership establishes a national Primary Care access framework connecting Melanoma Canada’s community-based initiatives with GotoDoctor’s physician network, care navigation capabilities and physical healthcare infrastructure. Together, the organizations will strengthen the pathway from awareness and screening to appropriate Primary Care access, helping more Canadians navigate the next step in their care.

GotoDoctor Welcomes Sam Sun as Chief Financial Officer

September 2, 2026 - GotoDoctor is pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Sun, CPA, ACCA, MBA, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this role, Sam will lead the company’s financing and capital markets activities, financial reporting and audit, corporate budgeting, financial planning, and overall financial performance as GotoDoctor continues its next stage of growth.

Sam brings more than 20 years of finance and leadership experience, with extensive expertise across private and public capital markets, corporate and project financing, mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, audit readiness, internal controls, and the development of scalable finance operations. His experience spans technology, energy, manufacturing, and other industries across Canada and international markets.

Most recently, Sam served as Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of PowerBank Corporation, where he played a key role in the company’s evolution from a private business into a publicly traded company. During his tenure, he supported PowerBank through its Canadian public-market journey and subsequent Nasdaq listing, while helping lead financing, acquisitions, debt and project-financing initiatives to support the company’s expansion.

Prior to PowerBank, Sam served as CFO of a venture-backed SaaS marketplace and held senior finance leadership positions with international organizations across the technology, manufacturing, energy and industrial sectors. This combination of entrepreneurial, growth-company and public-company experience provides GotoDoctor with additional financial and capital markets expertise as the organization continues to scale.

Sam holds an MBA from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and holds both CPA Canada and ACCA designations.
