From a horse show weekend to a circuitous route home.

With Beau along for the trek we took the unforgettable, sweeping horseshoe-shaped loop.

The ultimate Alberta road trip loop you haven’t done yet! 🏔️

👇Skip the standard highway and take the scenic detour. We started from Amberlea Meadows in South Edmonton, tracked west through the historic Cowboy Trail, and hit Highway 11 (the David Thompson Highway) swung through Lake Louise and Banff, stopped in Canmore for a treat then home to Calgary (just missing the hail).

The highlights you can’t miss:

💎 The unreal turquoise waters of Abraham Lake🦅 Leaving the crowds behind at Saskatchewan River Crossing

❄️ Cruising the legendary Icefields Parkway past Peyto & Bow Lakes

☕️ Alpine coffee stops in Lake Louise, Banff, and Canmore

🌆 Finishing the loop as the Calgary skyline hits the horizon

600km of pure Canadian Rockies magic. 🚙

🍁 Happy Canada Day! 🍁

Today I’m feeling especially grateful to call Canada home.

From the moment we wake up, our days are touched by Canadian ingenuity, compassion, and innovation. Whether it’s medical breakthroughs that save lives, technologies that connect us, the food grown by Canadian farmers, the books written by Canadian authors, or the countless everyday ideas that have made life a little easier, Canadians have quietly helped shape the world around us.

And, of course, no day is complete without our four-legged companions. Whether you’re taking your dog for an early morning walk, exploring a forest trail, or simply enjoying a peaceful afternoon together, Canada offers some of the most beautiful places in the world to share with our best friends.

As someone who writes mysteries inspired by small-town life—and a few clever canine companions—I know there’s something special about communities where neighbours look out for one another, stories are shared, and every walk can lead to a new adventure.

Here’s to this incredible country, the people who make it so remarkable, and the dogs who remind us to appreciate every step along the way.

Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦🐾

And just like that the forest fire haze has returned. 😢

No filter and a simple phone. Crazy images.

It’s been a rainy few months. ☔️

Making dog walks, biking and day trips less inviting. However, it’s also the ideal weather to curl up and relax with a book. 📖

Download one today. You’ll thank me later. 😆

Golden hour. 🌻

Break from life to enjoy some gardening. 👩‍🌾

Arrived at the gardening centre with the budget police in tow and still managed to make away with more than I planned. Total success and an afternoon well spent.

Spicy black bean burgers with sweet potato fries and basil garlic aioli accompanied by a tall gin and tonic and a cuddly black lab. 🐕‍🦺

Happy Saturday 😎

Found the best London Fog and the best Seed Bar in Banff 🌼

Enjoyed the sun in Bison Courtyard and took in the mountain air. 🧘

A day in the life of an author ✍🏼 can be a mix of people watching, plotting and just forgetting.

Erasing the noise to make room for ideas 💡

Tell them a crazy author sent you 😉
