🐍 🩹Snake bite first aid: what should you actually do?
Don’t believe everything you see on TV…😅 Treating a snake bite isn’t quite like it looks in the movies, so let’s recap what to do (and what NOT to do) if someone is bitten by a snake.
✅ DO:
- Call 911
- Keep the person still and calm
- Keep the injured area below heart level
- Remove tight clothing and jewelry near the bite
- Make note of the snake’s appearance from a safe distance, including its size, colour and markings, if possible
❌ DON’T:
- Try to suck out the venom
- Elevate the injured area
- Apply a tourniquet
- Massage the area
- Touch, catch, throw or try to bite the snake back! 🐍😅
And remember rule #1 as a first aider: your safety comes first. Keep your distance from the snake and wait for emergency medical help.

We are officially open in Sudbury! 🎉
Yesterday, we welcomed the very first group of participants to our newest Action First Aid Training Centre in Sudbury, Ontario. They completed their blended training and left certified, confident and empowered to take action when it matters most.❤️
A huge thank you to Ben, our Territory Manager, for all of the hard work behind the scenes over the past few months to bring our new Sudbury location to life!
We’re so excited to officially be part of the Sudbury community and look forward to welcoming many more participants through our doors!

We’re excited to be heading to the 2026 International Plowing Match & Rural Expo in Bruce County! 🚜🌾
In rural and agricultural settings, being prepared with the right lifesaving equipment and training can be especially important when emergency services may take longer to arrive.

So amazing to see Brock University putting the safety of students, staff and visitors first by strengthening emergency preparedness with outdoor, 24/7 publicly accessible AEDs.❤️
Many people believe cardiac arrest only happens to older adults. However, sudden cardiac arrest is the number one cause of death in student-athletes. Immediate CPR and access to an AED save lives.

The Action First Aid team was proud to sponsor this year’s Barrie 911 Crosstown Classic ,an incredible community initiative that raised $38,000 for Hospice Simcoe!🎉💜
At last year’s event, one player collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest. Thanks to the quick actions of those around them, including CPR and the use of an AED, his life was saved.
We were honoured to help raise awareness about the importance of AED access and show our community that AEDs are safe and easy for anyone to use.

A meaningful new lifesaving resource is now available at Fennell’s Corner Park.❤️
38Hands Charity is honouring Tony, who passed suddenly from cardiac arrest, with an outdoor SaveStation® at a location that holds special meaning: the park where he spent many years playing baseball.
Now, this new installation provides 24/7, year-round access to a lifesaving AED, helping protect the players, families and community members who continue to gather here.
Equipped with a ZOLL Medical AED 3, the AED is safe and easy for anyone to use. Clear voice prompts and visual instructions guide you step by step, and the AED will only deliver a shock if one is needed.
