Food For Learning Friday! 🍎

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on Central Hastings School, where the Food for Learning program is fueling student success each and every day.

While the food powers their day, the heart of this program goes so much deeper; building a strong sense of community, connection, and support.
Student volunteers are helping with their school's student nutrition program to learn the value of giving back, taking true pride in serving their peers and strengthening their school community.

We couldn’t be more proud of our dedicated volunteers for the care, enthusiasm, and commitment they bring to the program. Thank you!

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to Madoc IKO for their generous donation to the local Food for Learning program at Central Hastings School - K-12.
You’re contribution is supporting local students, by ensuring that they can EAT. LEARN. SUCCEED. Food for Learning can’t do what it does, without great community support such as yours.
Thank you for taking the time to visit Central Hastings for the cheque presentation, we all truly appreciate it!

Last night, we had the absolute pleasure of attending the Prince Edward County Civic Recognition Awards, as we watched our 7 Food for Learning volunteer teams in Prince Edward County receive an award for their incredible hardwork and dedication to volunteering and supporting local students’ success through Food for Learning!
We’re so proud of the in-school program coordinators and all of the volunteers who are dedicated to seeing local students thrive.
Congratulations to the Food for Learning volunteers teams on their win!
Thank you to the Mayor, and the entire team that was behind such a wonderful night, and congratulations to all recipients! It’s truly so inspiring.

What an incredible night!!

We always love any opportunity to shine a spotlight on how caring and committed Food for Learning volunteers are. So much time and effort goes into these programs; from placing food orders, putting away groceries, washing and prepping fruit and veggies, to serving students, cleanup, and menu planning!
Food for Learning student nutrition programs truly wouldn't be possible, without volunteers. So from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!!!

If you would like to be featured on the board, or know of a Food for Learning volunteer that you would like to recognize, feel free to submit your photo to Ashlyn Elmy at [email protected]! Full circle kind of day. 🥰🍎

Vicky was at a school helping set them up for a successful year ahead — while there, Food For Learning deliveries were arriving and student volunteers were rolling out breakfast bins. 🚚🥣

From deliveries, to volunteers, to food in bellies… it takes a whole village to make sure students start their day ready to learn. ❤️

This is Food For Learning in action.

Kicking off the 2026-27 school year with incredible energy! 🍎
This week, we gathered with our amazing Food for Learning coordinators, school staff, and volunteers from across Hastings and Prince Edward counties for our annual Orientation.
From plenty of laughs during our "Last Coordinator Standing" game to fantastic insights from Southeast Public Health, the room was full of passion for student nutrition. Our biggest takeaway for the year? You are not alone. There is an entire community behind the scenes ready to support these programs. Connect with us if you want to volunteer with one of our programs.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! Together, we are ready to fuel local students every single day. Let’s make this the best year ever! 🌟💚
