Behind every well-stocked hospital is a team making it happen. This week, we’re recognizing our Supply Chain teams, whose work helps ensure the supplies, equipment and products our teams need is where they need to be. Your work keeps things moving and helps our teams focus on what matters most, caring for patients. Thank you!

When our lab team needed a little help, Team Quinte Health and our community answered the call.

Our Laboratory team at Belleville General Hospital recently needed blood samples from 30 men and 30 women to help validate new tests that will be offered in-house. People from across Quinte Health rolled up their sleeves to help, including staff from Security, Physiotherapy, Information Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, Maintenance and Nursing, along with members of our Senior Leadership Team.

And the support didn’t stop at our hospital doors!

A group of local firefighters also stepped up to donate samples and help our lab team reach its goal. It was a great example of the partnership and community spirit that help make better patient care possible.

So what were all those blood samples for? They’ll help our lab validate several new tests for use in-house, including tests that help clinicians assess heart and kidney function, monitor metabolic conditions and infections, and guide treatment for patients.

A big thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to help, and to lab team members Rae-Anna Collyer and Sabrina Rankin, who collected the samples.

Today, we wear orange with purpose.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, we remember the children who never returned home from residential schools, and honour Survivors, their families and communities.

At Quinte Health, our understanding of reconciliation continues to deepen. The more we learn, the more our own understanding of health, care, relationships and community grows.

We are grateful to the Indigenous partners, advisors and community members who share their knowledge with us, challenge our thinking and help us grow. We know there is much more to learn and important work ahead.

Reconciliation is not the work of one day. It lives in the relationships we build, the voices and experiences we listen to, our willingness to keep learning, and the choices we make about how we care for one another.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission reminds us that we all “share responsibility for establishing and maintaining mutually respectful relationships.” That responsibility continues beyond today.

Today, we remember and reflect. Tomorrow, we continue our reconciliation journey.

Every Child Matters.

“When we arrived to Trenton Memorial Hospital for day surgery for our young daughter, we were greeted immediately with smiles from the volunteers, clear directions on where we needed to go, and comfort in the waiting area. First impressions matter, and right away, we felt comfortable, confident, and safe.

Beyond the smiling faces, the cleanliness of this hospital is absolutely amazing. There was nothing out of place, everything having a home with clear signage, and every single space we entered completely impeccable. Normally when you think of a hospital with your young kids, you think ‘don’t touch that, hospitals are so dirty,’ and although hygiene and teaching kids to be mindful of germs is a normal conversation and process, we just never felt on edge about every little thing we touched within this facility. The floors were shining, the walls were clean, the seating areas were tidy, nowhere you looked did you see any sort of dirt, bodily fluids, or disrepair of equipment. Absolutely fantastic, clean and well-kept facility.

I don’t even know where you begin about the care. Everyone within those four walls wearing a badge took pride in their job, it could be seen from a mile away. The Day Surgery crew on July 8th has our utmost respect. From speaking directly to our 5-year-old with confidence, to explaining every little thing you were about to do, you provided complete comfort. The moment the nurses began to giggle with our daughter and pretend to not know how to drive the hospital bed or steer, I knew she was in the hands of people who absolutely cared and loved every moment of making children feel safe.

Once into the OR, the constant conversation and reassurance provided to her was second to none. The after care, as well, was phenomenal.

Having a surgery is never what someone wants on their bingo card, but having the opportunity to have it done at this facility, makes the entire experience even more comfortable.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

-a grateful family

SAVE THE DATE!

On November 4, we’re bringing the people behind the project together to share what’s happening and what’s ahead.

Join us in-person for the next Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital (PECMH) Build Community Update.

This isn’t your typical community update. Instead of a virtual presentation, this evening will bring together Quinte Health leaders, team members and PECMH build project partners for an interactive conversation about the future hospital.

Come hear more about:
🔹 How the new hospital is being designed around patients, families and care teams
🔹 What new diagnostic imaging technology will mean for care closer to home
🔹 Where we are in the build and the major milestones ahead
🔹 How sustainability and innovation are shaping the new hospital
🔹 The thinking behind the spaces and features that will shape the future patient experience

And, of course, bring your questions. You’ll have the opportunity to connect directly with the people helping bring the new PECMH to life.

📅 November 4, 2026
🕓 4–5:30 p.m.
📍 Prince Edward Community Centre, Picton

Registration is required. Space is limited.
