We are happy to share that we obtained an honorable mention at the IMDA In-Mold Decorating Association Awards competition last week in the category of "Sustainable Use in the Design & Production of an In-Mold Decorated Label, Package or Part" with the submission of our IML TRIM Cup.

Our 6oz cup shown below, showcases a range of advanced innovations, including StackTeck’s Thin Recess Injection Molding (TRIM) technology, featuring ultra-thin 0.009” TRIM panels that reduce overall weight by 20%. The cup is molded using PureCycle Technologies recycled polypropylene (rPP) resin and enhanced with MCC Global IML Label Ultra Gloss/Matt IML labels, delivering striking, high-contrast graphics with exceptional visual impact.



Together, these innovations provide brand owners, customers, and consumers with a sustainable alternative to conventional virgin PP food-grade packaging. By reducing material usage and supporting reuse, recycling, and regeneration, this solution helps minimize waste and advance a circular economy. The result is a lightweight, high-performance package that is also 100% recyclable.

We are thrilled to participate in another edition of the In-Mold Decorating Association (IMDA) Plastic Product Decorating Summit that is happening in Houston Texas from September 1st to 3rd.

This summit is also the stage where the 2026 IMDA Awards Competition happens, which recognizes outstanding IML, IMD and IME submissions that were produced in 2025 or 2026. The use of multi-gating makes it much easier to fill and pack out the part in an injection mold.

With multiple gates, we are effectively reducing the flow length by positioning the gates in strategic locations to have plastic reach the end of fill in a shorter path. By placing more gates on a part, opportunity presents itself to reduce the wall thickness more than it would be possible with a single gate, while reducing the part weight by as much as 15%.

Most often when using multiple gates on large parts, however in some cases this technology is also used in smaller parts, in this case on the cup shown below 👇 , the part can be made thinner due to the second gate and at the same time enables a consistent flow pattern in a multi-compartment cup like this, since the 2 compartments are filling at the same time.
