Hey 👋 I’m Steph, mama of 3 and the owner and operator of the small Canadian breastmilk jewellery company Prairie Keepsake.

I specialize in preserving other memories and keepsakes too such as but not limited to ashes, umbilical cord, placenta, locks of hair, pet fur and wedding and funeral flowers into silver and gold heirlooms.

Susy reached out to me a few months ago requesting to have the last physical proof of her baby preserved.

She had suffered an early miscarriage and the last tangible piece she had left of her baby was her positive pregnancy test.

She wanted a piece of keepsake jewellery to remember and honour her baby forever.

She selected the Angel Wing Ring and gave me creative freedom on creating the gemstones.

I knew I was in for a challenge as the lid was the brightest shade of solid opaque green I had ever seen.

I knew the best course of action to not only add depth, colour and mimic a real stone was to add crushed gemstones.

Opal is one of the best stones in times of loss and grief as it can help with emotional healing and the release of heartache while providing hope.

Susy also opted to engrave the inside of the ring with her baby’s due date.
