Structured Creations

Today is a day we must never forget, especially under the current global circumstances. At 11:11am this morning, take a moment of silence to remember those, past and present, who have sacrificed what they had so you could have what you have.

This site came with its fair share of challenges due to the elevation — but also an incredible opportunity to create something truly unique.

I’ve shared the early concepts before, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how this design came to life. Grateful for a fantastic client and an amazing team of trades who helped turn vision into reality.

Always open to your thoughts and feedback — feel free to share below!

Have a great day, everyone!

This project had a very unique site. A corner lot perched at the top of a 16' hill, this allowed us to open up the main floor with large windows and views out to the city and lake! More photos to come! As always, please let me know your thoughts!

Our most recent Concept to Completion project!
While the landscaping and final plantings are still to come, the building itself is now complete, with just a few finishing touches in painting to be wrapped up now that warmer weather has arrived. Stay tuned for final photos showcasing some of the incredible detailing and material work executed by the general contractor and their talented trim carpenters!

It was a wonderful evening celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Art Gallery of Burlington alongside so many members of our vibrant community. In the gala’s opening remarks, it was beautifully noted that the AGB is a place of reflection, restoration, and community wellness—a sentiment that truly captures the spirit of this remarkable institution.

Burlington is incredibly fortunate to have such a cultural gem at the heart of its community. I look forward to many more years of engagement, support, and growth with the AGB.

I was also proud to acquire this stunning glass sculpture by renowned Canadian glass artist, David Thai—a piece that will serve as a lasting reminder of the evening and the creativity it celebrated.

From Concept to Completion
An incredible team effort went into bringing this modern staircase to life. Collaborated with the Interior Designer on theme + finishes, developed detailed drawings, then laid it all out on site with the Site Foreman and Trim Carpenter. Love when design and ex*****on come together this seamlessly! 👏✨

Merry Christmas to you all and all your families! Wishing you all the very best this holiday season!

Although sometimes I can be critical about certain policies and procedures one must balance with support when things go well. This property has sat dormant for several years due to a fire. We were hired to design a four unit townhome unit to work with this site. We worked through preliminary consultations with staff prior to making a formal site plan submission and after several months of working with all the various departments, we received Committee approval with full support from our mayor .meedward and the rest of committee. Although some appeared to not grasp the concept of the need for housing and therefore flexibility in zoning and development is needed, we now move to receive Council approval. Thank you to all the city staff and various departments for working with us through a relatively seamless permit approval process. meedward

I have to commend my clients. We were hired to design a nice little detached structure in their rear yard in downtown Burlington. The construction of this new structure meant the removal of a 15+ year old Beech tree which my client had planted when they moved into the house. We decided to have the tree spaded and replanted in a tree farm in north Burlington so that it could continue its life. Even though the cost and work involved was substantially more than just cutting the tree down, as can be seen by these photos, it was very important to my client not to destroy them (they also spaded a beautiful Japanese Maple and relocated 10 other small bushes and plants on the property…not loosing a single plant).

Being the proper consultant (oh dear…opening myself up on that comment!), I commented that I would check with the City to ensure there were no issues with this, I mean, what possibly could the city have a problem with? We are saving the trees, everyone should be happy….right? Wrong. Despite the great expense my client went to, the City still wanted a tree removal permit along with its associated fees AND cash in lieu because they determined we were destroying the trees. Does this seem fair to you? Leave me a comment….I want to make sure I am not the only one that believes this is counter intuitive. The city penalizes you for removing a tree in their Forestry permit process. Should they reward you or incentivize you for saving trees or planting more than you have to?

Maybe rewarding developers, designers and contractors for being more conscientious of the designs they create and build to take the landscape and trees into account will make them second guess bulldozing and clear cutting lots…..am I dreaming?

Although my bucket list was to see one of Johann Strauss II’s waltz’s or operettas at the Vienna State Opera House, I did manage to see a string quintet performing a series of Dvorak pieces which were incredible.
The building is an absolute must see. Almost completely destroyed during World War II, it has been fully restored to its original glory and you would never be the wiser. It is an absolutely stunning piece of classical architecture.

I guess I will be back!
