Queen Level Records is building a roster of female identified or non-binary artists who live with disability, seen or unseen as well as their allies who support our vision and mission.
If you know someone is going through something with the brain such as brain injury, ADHD or Autism, etc and you notice changes in that person - and you find yourself getting frustrated, running out of patience, or thoughts of judging their character, you must consider factors that may be affected that they cannot control:
1. Memory
2. Capacity
3. Emotional Overwhelm
4. Sensory triggers
5. Energy levels
6. Cognitive load
7. Confusion in some cases
8. Executive functioning
Keep in mind they may be high masking during functioning which can be misconstrued for not struggling.
Remember this world is not built to accommodate this so be kind.

TRAUMA AND “VICTIMHOOD”
This message is coming through strong today.
I am not oblivious to the fact that some people have deduced that I have a “victim mentality” but I’m here to explain the difference between someone who has a victim mindset and someone who has been on the unfortunate receiving end of unforeseen traumas, surviving them, but then being met with trauma after trauma till it becomes so intense that you can barely cope or function.
Thank goodness I’m the Queen of resourcefulness, resilience and overcoming barriers. This is why I’m building Queen Level Productions - to use my lived experience to help others. But I had to go through this initiation to develop the capacity needed and the ability to truly empathize.
There are people sincerely trying so hard to heal, grow and move forward but unfortunately things continue to happen to them. They are doing the work, working with therapists, alchemizing and truly looking for light so that they can overcome a very difficult time and get back to doing what they are here to do on this Earth. Warriors. Often times it’s the strong ones who get overlooked for the support they require, which really does create impact. I relate to this 100%.
Then there are those who don’t do any work on themselves, complain, stay unmotivated, blame everyone around them, say mean things to people and couldn’t be bothered to try to make changes in their lives…. They still may need support but are doing nothing to try to help themselves. I don’t relate to this at all.
A wise African friend of mine talked to me about UBUNTU - I am because we are.
When someone in the community is suffering and asking for help, maybe they really do need it. It’s an extremely humbling and sometimes scary experience to allow one’s self to seek out support publicly - the vulnerability in that can be overwhelming and even risky.
I already knew that when I went public with my very complex situation and need for support that it will fall on some deaf ears, will trigger people into creating a narrative about me, could place me in a stigmatized pile and could even show me the true character of people I called friends…. That some of them never truly loved me in the first place.
It’s important not to pathologize or categorize people into boxes based on the narrative or assumptions or gossip. Unless you walk another’s path you have no idea what it is to endure.
And if you find that you come across a “victim”, get curious and perhaps ask if they have considered utilizing community resources etc. that outer shell can become very hard because of the hopelessness of lack of support or resources and enduring too much. And let’s face it - the system is broken and overwhelmed.
