Jeremy Ngo is our newest Junior CADD Technician. From his time with CBRE Canada, he brings a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial analysis, and digital cartography, and is completing his Advanced Diploma in GIS at .

Carley and Talia are expanding our Biology team as Field Biologists.

Carley holds a Master of Science in Zoology and B.Sc. at . She brings experience in fish health, water quality, toxicity testing, and environmental monitoring.

Talia holds a Master of Resource and Environmental Management and B.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from . Her background includes environmental permitting, aquatic field studies, technical reporting, and data analysis.

The unique skillsets of Jeremy, Carley, and Talia will add great value to our teams. Welcome all!

If you're an avid angler, you might recognize this – the cutthroat trout, a species native to the Pacific Ocean and Rocky Mountains.

This cutthroat trout was captured during an amphibian and fish salvage on Burke Mountain. Salvages are conducted ahead of construction or in-water works to safely relocate fish and amphibians from areas that may be impacted, helping protect local wildlife and support regulatory compliance.

Fun facts:
• The coastal cutthroat trout is the only cutthroat trout subspecies in North America that is born in freshwater, migrates to saltwater, and then returns to freshwater to spawn.
• Some resident coastal cutthroat trout establish remarkably small home territories, sometimes occupying a pool as short as 18 metres for their entire lives.
• Coastal cutthroat trout were once far more abundant. Historical accounts describe anglers catching several hundred fish per hour in the Qualicum River on Vancouver Island.

So, what comes after a spill response? In the case of our Comox Valley project, Keystone Environmental was involved in remediation of a fuel spill and restoration of the forest at that site.

We led the installation of approximately 3,000 live plants, then returned to the site in spring to remove invasive plants (Canada Thistle) and install wildlife fencing as part of the monitoring and maintenance program.

Removing invasive species at replanting sites helps promote ecological health and creates more space for desirable native plant species.

Announced at the 2026 Budget, the Government of British Columbia revealed an expansion of the provincial sales tax (PST) to certain professional services.

Effective October 1, 2026, the Government of BC will expand the 7% Provincial Sales Tax (PST) to include certain professional services, including engineering and geoscience services. The tax will be applied to 30% of the purchase price at the standard 7% rate, resulting in an effective tax of 2.1% on applicable services.
