From inspired to inspiring: Amadea de Wit’s full-circle journey in mechatronics Long before joining SFU's School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering (MSE), Amadea de Wit was discovering her passion for engineering through the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS) Outreach programs.

Ímesh, meaning "to walk" in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh snichim (Squamish Language), is a mobile app developed by the Bill Reid Centre intended to be a step toward decolonizing the university and the surrounding landscape. The app features two walking tours and features a handful of Indigenous initiatives at Simon Fraser University. Check it out:

DYK: Pelé, regarded as one of the greatest soccer (football!) players of all time and visited SFU in 1975!

Pelé came to the Lower Mainland for a friendly exhibition match between the New York Cosmos and the Vancouver Whitecaps at Empire Stadium.

During his stay, the Brazilian football legend made a special appearance at SFU, where he was welcomed by university staff, including long-time athletics and recreation administrator John Buchanan, who also founded SFU’s soccer program!

Great news! Our friends at the Trottier Observatory will be open for in-person viewing tomorrow Tuesday, June 17, from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for a relatively rare event of the moon passing in front of Venus.

Tomorrow, June 17, the Moon will pass in front of Venus blocking it from view, an event called a "lunar occultation of Venus". First contact is at 11:43 am, and Venus emerges at 12:50 pm.

To see this relatively rare event, the Trottier Observatory will be open for in-person viewing from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. Both Venus and the Moon are visible during the day and we are so excited to share this event with you.
