Planning a window replacement?

Keep this guide handy when the quotes start coming in. It highlights five areas worth reviewing before you decide which option is right for your home.

When a window comes out, this is what you're looking at. The rough opening, the framing, and everything the old window was hiding. It's also the moment where proper preparation makes the biggest difference before the new window goes in.

Give your windows an end-of-summer refresh.

Summer can leave plenty of dust and debris behind, not only on the glass, but around the frames too. A quick clean now helps clear that buildup before wetter weather returns.

For the glass and frames, keep it simple: mild soap and water, followed by a clean rinse and a soft cloth to dry. While you’re there, clear any debris from the small drainage holes at the bottom of the exterior frame so water can flow out properly.

One thing not to bring to the job: abrasive cleaners, razor blades or a pressure washer. They can damage the glass, finishes and seals.
