Welcome to my neighbourhood spotlight! To start things off, we’re going to look at my home neighbourhood of UniverCity. This is an established, but still growing community that sits atop Burnaby Mountain alongside Simon Fraser University.

Most of the properties in the neighbourhood are condos and townhouses, creating a compact neighbourhood with plenty of everyday amenities close to home. Even with the density, there’s plenty of green space, easy access to trails, and a surprising amount of privacy.

UniverCity is well connected to the rest of Metro Vancouver through the SFU bus loop, which provides direct access to the Millennium, Evergreen and Expo skytrain lines and a RapidBus to downtown Vancouver.

If you’re thinking of buying in UniverCity, I’d love to tell you more about the place I call home and help you decide whether it fits the lifestyle you’re looking for.

This is a sample of a two-bedroom unit at Icon, which is part of the Southgate City project by Ledingham McAllister. This unit includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a small flex space that could be an ideal office or den.

I love the inclusion of the flex space as it gives you a lot of different options for how to use the space to best suit you and your family’s needs. And can we talk about the balcony? It’s enormous and wraps around to the second bedroom, providing plenty of fresh air and views of the area.

Ledingham McAllister

I’m taking a look further south today, and I’m pleased to showcase Southgate City by Ledingham McAllister. This is a 60 acre master planned community in the Edmonds community plan, with move-in ready projects already completed.

Southgate city is ideally situated a few minutes away from Metrotown for your shopping needs. With ready access to skytrain and transit, as well as quick driving access to Queensborough, New Westminster and Vancouver, you’re central to everything. Later this week I’ll be showing one of the two-bedroom units to show what central living can look like.

Today is our last look at The Poco, and there’s a couple of things I want to highlight about the project. I love that this is a smaller development that fits with a lot of the current density of the neighbourhood.

The homes themselves are smartly laid out to maximize usable living space, and lots of windows help to provide natural light.

Azure Properties Group

Let’s take a look at The Poco. This is a limited release apartment building, developed by Rapture Developments and the Azure Properties Group, and offers a collection of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom units.

There are only 38 units in the development and they are selling quickly. Part of what I think is drawing people’s interest is the location. You’re only minutes away from downtown Port Coquitlam, and steps away from the Port Coquitlam community centre. As an added bonus, owners get a five year pass to the community centre, one for each person living in each unit.

Thursday I’ll have more to show you, including a little bit of the presentation centre’s display suite.

Azure Properties Group

I loved being able to explore and take video of this junior two-bedroom unit at Inlet District. This efficiently laid out unit has two bedrooms and one bathroom, and plenty of entertaining space in the main living area.

The primary bedroom has lots of natural light coming in from the big window overlooking your balcony, which stretches across the length of the unit.

This week’s project is Inlet District, a multiphase planned community just steps from the Inlet Centre skytrain station. The first phase of the project is currently for sale.

Each residential tower will have its own separate set of amenities, and all residents including rental tenants will have access to The Well, their massive amenity space in an on-site rental building.

Today is our last look at Gardena, and today I’m eager to show off PNE of their two bedroom units.

One of the things I really love here is both bedrooms have really nice, big windows to being in a lot of natural light. Each bedroom is large enough for a full size bed and side tables with room to move around. The primary bedroom includes a walk through closet leading to the ensuite bathroom.

The kitchen is nicely laid out with a built in island, lots of counter space and a gas cooktop for all your cooking. There’s lots of open space in the living room and again, big windows to really bring in that natural light.

Welcome back to Gardena. Today we’re going to be looking at one of their one-bedroom units.

I really like the layout of the unit, starting with the bathroom that’s a little separated out from the rest of the unit right by the entrance, but with a bonus entrance into the bedroom for easier access.

The kitchen is a galley style kitchen, and I like the addition of the peninsula as an extra prep space and as the main dining area. That leaves a lot of room for a big living room area for entertaining or relaxing.

The bedroom comes with a nice sized closet for the size of the unit. It’s a compact, efficiently laid out unit that really creates a sensible, easily lived-in space.

Welcome to Gardena! This multi-building project in Coquitlam is made up of Magnolia, a 17-storey condo tower, Lotus, its 42-storey neighbour, and two shorter rental buildings. Both Magnolia and Lotus are in presale, with Magnolia scheduled for completion later this year. Lotus is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2027.

Gardena is sharing amenities between the two condo buildings, including a theatre, gym, rooftop lounge, dining lounge and dog run. Residents of both buildings will have access to the amenities in Magnolia and Lotus.

Gardena has a collection of one- to three-bedroom homes with one to three bathrooms. Some floorplans have already sold out, so availability varies depending on the type of home you’re looking for. Later this week I’ll be doing a video tour of some of the available units.
