Great news for Airdrie and the Calgary region!

Our government is partnering with Covenant Health to develop a new multi-building health centre, bringing a range of health services closer to home and in one location. The passing of Chief Justice Ritu Khullar is a profound loss for our province, justice system and the legal community she served with such distinction.

Chief Justice Khullar was a respected jurist whose career was marked by excellence, fairness and a deep commitment to the administration of justice. Throughout her years on the bench, she demonstrated a steadfast dedication to the rule of law and to ensuring that Albertans have confidence in our justice system.

As Chief Justice, she brought both intellectual rigour and compassionate leadership to her role. She worked tirelessly to strengthen the justice system and to advance meaningful access to justice while preserving the independence and integrity of the courts.

Her contributions to Alberta's legal landscape will endure for generations. She leaves behind an extraordinary professional legacy and set a standard of service that will continue to inspire judges, lawyers and future members of the profession.

My deepest condolences go to her husband and her sons, as well as to her extended family, friends and colleagues across the legal profession. Our province has lost a great Albertan whose contributions to our province will not be forgotten. We are grateful for her service and for the example she set through a lifetime of dedication to others.

My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by today’s deeply troubling attack.

Every Albertan deserves to practise their faith free from hatred, intimidation, and violence. Our places of worship are sacred, and they must be treated with the respect they deserve.

Alberta has repeatedly called on the federal government to strengthen Canada’s bail and parole system. Today’s attack is another reminder of the need for meaningful reform to keep dangerous repeat offenders off our streets.

My deepest condolences are with Parker’s family and loved ones as they grieve this devastating loss.

Thank you to the Calgary Police Service, Search and Rescue, partner agencies, and the many volunteers whose tireless efforts reflected the very best of our province. Alberta stands with Parker’s family and the Calgary community.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to Parker’s family and loved ones. There is no greater heartbreak than the loss of a child, and I hope they are able to find moments of peace and strength during this unimaginable time.

Thank you to the Calgary Police Service, Search and Rescue, and every agency that played a role in this incredibly complex search. I want to commend your professionalism, dedication, and perseverance throughout this search.

To the people of Calgary, you came together in a way that was truly extraordinary. Through countless volunteer hours, posters, social media posts, and unwavering support, you showed just how deeply this community cared about bringing Parker home.

Kicked off yesterday with the Premier’s Stampede Pancake Breakfast before touring the Calgary Courts Centre with Ontario Associate Solicitor General Zee Hamid and Ontario MPP Monica Ciriello, Parliamentary Assistant to the Attorney General. Finally, I wrapped up the day with an excellent discussion with MP Larry Brock.

Stampede brings together people from every corner of Canada, and it’s always a pleasure to reconnect with our conservative colleagues, share ideas, and strengthen the partnerships that help move our country forward.
