Fall is slowly settling into Calgary.

The mornings feel cooler, jackets are starting to come back out, and back-to-school season is quietly changing the rhythm of the city again. Café tables stay occupied a little longer — laptops open, notes spread out, flowers sitting nearby while everyone settles into a new routine.

It still feels like September, but there’s that first shift in the air that makes you realize summer is slowly moving on.

For our new seasonal menu, we wanted to focus on one simple ingredient and explore all the cozy ways it can feel: sweet, creamy, buttery, warm.

When we started And Some Cafe, we wanted to bring a little bit of Seoul to the city, especially the cafe culture we grew up loving.

We recently went back home, and it reminded us why we love it so much. In Seoul, cafes are more than just somewhere to grab a coffee. With around 20,000 cafes across the city, they’re part of how people spend their days, meet friends, slow down, and explore different neighborhoods. There’s always another cafe to discover, a little bakery to stop by, pastries to try, tiny objects you didn’t know you needed, a photo booth to pop into, and of course, flowers along the way.

Seoul has plenty of little things that are uniquely Seoul too. The sound of cicadas filling the trees in summer, umbrellas following everyone around on sunny days, the beauty of the National Museum, motorcycles passing by as you walk up and down the hills.

So we thought we’d share a few little postcards from home, and a little bit of the inspiration behind And Some Cafe. ♡
