Ladder kits previously available to contractors and DIYers in Canada have offered few wood types, short lengths and all of the ladders are made outside of Canada. Typically you had access to ladder kits 96" long, in maple or red oak and made in China. We decided that we can do better. Now you can buy a made in Canada ladder kit in 7, 8 or 9 steps, with lengths up to 120" long, in white oak, walnut or maple. Our ladder kits are made in Canada and feature: Three wood types; white oak, walnut and maple. Our competitors' ladders are imported and are available in maple and red oak only. Three ladder lengths, 7, 8 & 9 steps for rail heights up to 9’ 6’ (114”). Our competitors' ladders are for rail heights up to 7’7” (91”) Unique design elements: Step corners are angled to prevent scrapes and snagging clothing Two traction grooves on each step provide a safe grip while climbing Bookie - a small bookshelf that replaces the top rung of the ladder. Muskoka Ladder
THE STORY
The Muskoka loft ladder was designed with our client when he sent us an inspiration picture and asked us if we could make him a ladder just like that. The ladder would be made of ambrosia maple that he was using in his Muskoka cottage, was in the style of a ships ladder and had long metal handrails that extended above the ladder into the loft. We had never made a ladder like it!
One of the most defining elements of our Muskoka ladder is the custom steel hand rails. They are 8’ long, made of 3/4" rectangular steel, powder coated black and extend 2’ above the ladder.
The Muskoka ladder is now our most popular style of loft ladder, our clients love it!
Customization is unlimited, different wood species, a variety of hardware types and colours, different edge profiles, just let us know how you want your ladder to look.
There are several types of hardware that we use on our loft ladders. This is our favorite as it permanently connects the ladder to the loft wall making it very sturdy and safe for kids and adults. The stationary hinges also let you store the ladder vertically against the loft wall. The non skid feet protect your floors while the support rods for under each step add to the strength of the ladder. This hardware comes from Putnam Ladders and we sell it to clients who want to upgrade their existing ladder or are building their own ladder.
