AST2 KABA Designs

Born in Senegal and raised in Mali, Astou Kaba Maillet is a Canadian designer and owner of AST2 KABA Designs Inc. At age of 12, I developed a passion of designing my own clothing as I always wanted to have something unique. I used to spend hours watching people try different clothes in hopes they would find a dress that may fit perfectly. At that age, I told myself “Instead of trying to fit any clothes, let the clothes fit you!”. For me, fashion is a therapy, a hobby, and a great way to express my creativity. When I use my hands to create, I enjoy myself and I am convinced that it is a good way to escape and relax. It’s the same way I am expecting every single of my customers to feel when they wear my designs. To me, Fashion is not only an art form but also a social marker that allows us to proclaim our singularity, our desire to distinguish ourselves from others.
