CUPS Calgary
Through integrated programs and services, CUPS, supports Calgarians facing poverty, adversity, and trauma to create lasting change and stability.
CUPS provides integrated support in the areas of Healthcare, Basic Needs & Housing, and Family & Child services to low-income Calgarians living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events. While our work is rooted in the science of brain development, our passion is helping people effectively address their challenges, build stability and ultimately improve overall wellbeing.
Everything we do here at CUPS would not be possible without the amazing team that shows up day in and day out.
They approach each complex situation from a trauma-informed and holistic lens, while focusing on great client care.
Our Calgary community is better because of the impactful work being done every day by our awesome team!

September 30th is National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. It is a time to reflect, learn, and take steps on the journey of reconciliation in whatever way feels meaningful to you.
With that in mind, we have compiled a list of some of the different events taking place in Calgary to honour this important day, as well as reflections from CUPS' journey of Truth and Reconciliation. You can read it on our blog under News & Events of our website: https://www.cupscalgary.com/national-day-for-truth-reconciliation-2026-events-in-calgary/
CUPS Staff were given time on September 21st to watch an impactful documentary called "The Good Canadian," followed by an opportunity to reflect, share and discuss together. The documentary explores the current impacts of colonialism in the medical, governance, and social sectors for Indigenous communities. Creating opportunities for staff to engage with films and resources like this supports our ongoing Two-Eyed Seeing journey, while creating space to listen, learn, reflect and engage with these important topics together.
CUPS will be closed on September 30th to honour this important day of truth-telling and remembrance. We invite our community to come together, witness, and reflect on the intentional and meaningful actions each of us can take to support Indigenous communities on this important day.

Sharing this client’s experience reminds us of how impactful this work is and how grateful we are for the teams who help make a difference in our community.

For this month's CUPian Spotlight, meet Noreen, CUPS' Data Management & Quality Improvement Coordinator!
"Hi, I'm Noreen Sanosa, and I'm the Data Management and Quality Improvement Coordinator here at CUPS. Part of my role is to work with teams and support the ongoing initiatives in improving data quality, streamlining workflows, and creating practical tools and resources that support effective service delivery. These initiatives include developing guides, training materials, and reporting solutions, as well as helping staff navigate systems and processes to ensure accurate and meaningful data.
While I work behind the scenes, I really enjoy collaborating with frontline staff and learning about their work directly from them. It helps broaden my perspective and gives me valuable insight into their day-to-day work. This collaboration helps me to identify practical ways to improve processes and make our database system more efficient, user-friendly, and more supportive of the needs of our staff.
In my free time, I read, watch shows, and spend time with family and friends over board games and video games. I also enjoy staying active and creative through Pilates and ceramics classes."
Thank you Noreen for all of the important work that you do!
We had the chance to talk with Kevin to hear his story and the impact CUPS has made in his life!
Kevin recently graduated from one of CUPS’ housing programs, GRSP (Graduated Rent Subsidy Program). With the support of GRSP, Kevin was able to secure safe and stable senior housing and work towards his long term goals, and ultimately begin to navigate systems independently and build a healthier future!
Stories like Kevin’s remind us why integrated, person-centred care matters. Thank you, Kevin, for sharing your story!

September 10th is World Su***de Prevention Day.
Every life lost to su***de is one too many. On this day, we remember those we’ve lost, support those who may be struggling, and come together to raise awareness about how we can all play a role in su***de prevention.
We spoke with members of our team about the significance of this day and an important reminder: you don’t have to be a mental health professional to support someone who is struggling. You don’t need to have the perfect words or know exactly what to say, simple conversation, listening without judgement and the act of connection can have a huge impact.
If you or someone you know is in crisis or needs support, call or text 9-8-8 to reach the Canada Su***de Crisis Helpline, available 24/7.

Today we are looking back on Pride Week here at CUPS! This year, we dedicated our half-day closure to Pride, creating space for staff to learn, reflect and celebrate together. We were honoured to hear from Shone Thistle, Calgary’s seventh Poet Laureate, whose work explores identity, belonging, creativity and the courage it takes to live authentically.
And on Sunday, a group of us gathered to cheer on our friends and sector partners at the Calgary Pride Parade!
At CUPS, we’re committed to creating spaces where everyone can belong, feel welcome and show up as their authentic selves. While Pride Week may be over, the work of creating inclusive spaces continues all year long.

We're proud to share that CUPS recently achieved 100% compliance in the Canadian Accreditation Council review of our Mental Health and Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) programs.
This result reflects much more than meeting a standard. It affirms our commitment to delivering high-quality, client-centred care for people navigating complex mental health and substance use challenges. It also demonstrates the strength of the systems, partnerships, and people that support this work every day.
Accreditation is one moment in time, but quality improvement is ongoing. We continue to listen, learn, and evolve so that every person who walks through our doors receives the respectful, integrated care they deserve.
To our Mental Health and OAT teams—thank you. Your knowledge, collaboration, and unwavering dedication make achievements like this possible, but more importantly, they make a lasting difference in the lives of the people we serve every day.
