This month, 238 P3 babies are celebrating a birthday! 🎉

September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡
Today, we honour the survivors of residential schools and those who never made it home. We recognize and commemorate the history and ongoing intergenerational impacts of residential schools. Our team had an amazing day at the Owerko Centre Community Connections Event last week! 🎊 We had a lovely time learning about the exciting research happening at the Owerko Centre and sharing information about our study with participants and members of the community. 🧠👩‍🔬

We even got to meet some P3 Cohort families, which was such a special experience! A massive thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, it was great to meet you! 💖

🚽 Did you know?

Among children in the P3 Cohort, the most common age to become toilet trained is between 30 and 36 months.

Every child develops at their own pace, and many factors can influence when they're ready for toilet training. By following families over time, our study helps us better understand child development and the wide range of what is considered typical.

🌎 From Calgary to around the world!

When the P3 Cohort began, our participants were families living in and around Calgary.

Today, our participants call 9 countries and 8 provinces home - but no matter where they live, their continued participation is helping us better understand pregnancy, child development, and family health.

Who says fun has to cost a fortune?

There are plenty of ways to enjoy YYC with kids, without spending a cent (aside from the cost of getting there, of course). With the fall starting to settle in, there's lots of family fun happening right now. Here are a few ideas:

- Check out the changing colors at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary
- Check out free events and festivals, like Alberta Culture Days, happening in September
- Find a free story time, craft, LEGO, or other program at the library
- Explore YYC's public art map
- Visit a local or year-round farmers' market
- Play at and explore the Devonian Gardens or Ralph Klein Park
- Keep an eye out for Halloween and pumpkin activities coming up soon
