Your diary is surprisingly optimistic. 😄
It says:
📅 Meeting at 10
📅 Lunch at 12
📅 Dinner at 7
What it doesn’t mention is:
💭 worrying about your parents
💭 missing someone
💭 wondering if your children are happy
💭 carrying a disappointment you haven’t quite let go of
💭 thinking about a conversation you’d rather not have
Funny really.
The diary only records where you’re going. Not what's on your mind.

The older I get, the more I realise that peace and quiet has very little to do with noise. ☕
I’ve sat on beaches thinking about to-do lists.
I’ve walked in beautiful places while mentally writing emails.
I’ve had entire conversations while thinking about something else.
And then wondered why I felt tired. 😄

Can we talk about how much space things take up in our heads? ☕
You can spend days thinking about:
✔ whether to apply for that job
✔ what to write in your CV
✔ whether to cut your hair, even though everyone says it looks fine
✔ what gift to buy someone
✔ whether you’ve made the right decision
And the funny thing is, they don’t arrive one at a time.
They’re all in there together.
Bouncing around.
Popping up at random moments.
Usually when you’re trying to concentrate on something else. 😄

A surprising amount of stress comes from trying to solve everything at once. 🤯
The future.
The finances.
The relationship.
The career.
The house.
The holiday.
The thing that’s bothering you.
No wonder your brain gets tired.
Most days you don’t need all the answers.
You just need the next step. 👣
💾 Save this for the days your brain decides everything needs sorting out before breakfast.
Walking this morning I realised something.
My brain seems to believe that if I think about something long enough, I’ll eventually solve it.
The problem is, half the things I think about don’t need solving.
They need deciding.
Doing.
Letting go.
Or simply leaving alone.
Funny how long it can take to realise that.
Complete the sentence:
“My mind won’t switch off when…”
Mine?
…I’ve remembered it’s someone’s birthday and spend three days procrastinating, asking people for ideas, searching online, changing my mind and then panicking on the day because I still haven’t bought anything. 😄
Please tell me I’m not the only one.
What’s yours?

Your life looks fine from the outside.
You get up.
Go to work.
Reply to messages.
Walk the dog.
Cook dinner.
Pay the bills.
Life carries on.
And yet some days your head feels as though it’s been running a marathon.
I think that’s one of the reasons so many people feel exhausted.
Not because they’re doing too much.
Because they’re carrying so much mentally.
Can you relate?

Have you ever driven somewhere and realised you can’t remember half the journey? 😄
Or walked into a room and forgotten why you went in there?
Or been so busy thinking about everything else that you weren’t really present at all?
It happens.
Sometimes the simplest thing we can do is come back to where we are.
One breath.
Then another.

I’ve noticed something.
We spend a lot of our lives fixing things.
Problems.
Situations.
Plans.
Other people’s worries.
Other people’s decisions.
Other people’s mistakes.
Nobody asked us to take responsibility for half of it. 😄
Yet somehow we’ve convinced ourselves that if we just think about it long enough, organise it well enough or care about it deeply enough, we’ll make it better.
Maybe not everything and everyone needs fixing.
💾 Save this for the next time you find yourself solving a problem that belongs to someone else.

Panic has a way of convincing you that something terrible is happening.
Usually, it isn’t.
Your body is doing exactly what it was designed to do.
It’s just got the alarm volume turned up.
This is one of my favourite quick-reset techniques because it’s simple and you can do it almost anywhere.
