🚧 Heads up on your August Long Weekend commute.
We're making improvements in the Ogden area to support the future Green Line LRT.

As part of this work, 𝗢𝗴𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗦.𝗘. 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝟱𝟬 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗦.𝗘. 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗦.𝗘. 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟯𝟭 𝗮𝘁 𝟵 𝗽.𝗺. 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟰 𝗮𝘁 𝟱 𝗮.𝗺. Community access will remain available, and pedestrians and cyclists can continue using the existing multi-use pathway.

What was once a grassy field is now taking shape as the future home of the Green Line LRT trains.

Today, we're starting to see the first signs of the future Maintenance and Storage Facility (MSF) taking shape in southeast Calgary near 130 Ave S.E. and Deerfoot Trail.

PCL Construction crews are busy moving dirt and preparing the facility’s foundations.

Come 2031, every Green Line train will pass through the MSF before heading out across Calgary. It's where the future fleet will be stored, cleaned, maintained and prepared for service — making it a critical piece of the Green Line LRT – SE Project.

🚧 Big news for our project!

We've awarded a new contract to local builder Graham Construction & Engineering Inc. to build a 570-metre elevated guideway at 114 Ave and Barlow Trail S.E.

This guideway will give our trains their very own raised track. Once complete, they'll glide above the traffic instead of stopping at street level. That means faster, more reliable trips for you. 🚆

Graham's crews have already been hard at work in the area, drilling piles and reconfiguring roads to prepare the foundations of the guideway. It's work that supports local jobs and keeps investment right here in our city.

Another step forward (and upward!) as we build Calgary's newest transit line.

One year ago, we broke ground on the largest, most ambitious infrastructure project in our city's history.

Today it’s real and we’re building across the southeast. To the crews on site and the teams behind the scenes, to our partners, funders, and subcontractors, and to every Calgarian who championed this project: this progress belongs to you.

Here’s what one year of building together looks like:
• 7 active construction projects, with more starting this year
• Over $200 million in contracts awarded
• 5 local companies shortlisted for main construction, meaning jobs and opportunities for Calgarians
• Calgary's first low-floor trains in production
• 9 station designs are nearing completion, with construction starting in 2027

This is bigger than tracks and trains. It’s an investment in our city, our economy, our communities, and the Calgarians who will ride this line for decades to come.

We’re proud of year one, and we’re just getting started.

Green Line Calgary

Our construction activity is ramping up in Ogden.

Our partner Graham Construction & Engineering Inc. is making strong progress on the future 78 Avenue S.E. LRT bridge, a key piece of Green Line infrastructure that will run alongside the CPKC rail corridor.

Crews are currently drilling piles deep into the ground, forming the foundation that will anchor the entire structure. This summer, large steel girders will be lifted into place to span the roadway and carry the bridge deck, a major milestone that will give the bridge its shape and signal a visible shift in progress at the site.

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to recognize and celebrate the cultures, histories, and enduring contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

It’s also a moment to reflect on the deep and ongoing relationships Indigenous Peoples have with the land, and the knowledge that continues to guide how it is cared for and understood.

Through our work on this project, we’ve had the opportunity to work alongside Indigenous communities and Knowledge Holders whose insights are helping inform how the project is planned, designed, and delivered, including how we approach land stewardship, restoration, and connection to place. That learning is ongoing, and it continues to shape how we move forward with greater care, intention, and responsibility.

This month, we’ve also had the honour of sharing Seed Stories, a video series that centres Indigenous voices and brings forward teachings about the relationships between people, plants, and place. These conversations reflect deep lived experience, and the care and respect that are carried across generations.

The teachings shared through this series are helping inform The City of Calgary Plant Project and how we approach restoring and re‑storying land along the Green Line LRT alignment. This work has been shaped through site visits, conversations, and ongoing collaboration with Knowledge Holders.

Inspired by these stories, seed mixes have been created as a way for Calgarians to continue learning, planting, and building their own connection to the land. You can connect with the Green Line team at upcoming events to take one home.

We know this is part of a much longer journey. We are grateful for the opportunity to listen, to learn, and to continue building relationships grounded in respect and trust.
