Here's your friendly Thursday reminder from the 2nd best looking host in Calgary named BAM who hosts an open mic at a Calgary bar named after a critter! Sign up starts at 6:30. Music is fu***ng magical! How? Ask me what I did yesterday, I'd have to think about it, organize my thoughts, remember orders & times. BUT, play a song from Anthrax that I haven't heard in more than 20+ years, I remember EVERY damn word. I remember it was my Freshman YEAR (9th grade for my Canadians) in highschool. I remember "Now & Then Records" in Airport Plaza just recently moved from where they were located, by the pizza shop & the T-shirt Iron-On Store, to the end of the plaza. I remember it was 2 days before the actual release & N&T Records had 10 cassettes for early release. I remember leaving my house on Donnelly St. at 6am, it was a gray & overcast morning. Walked down Stone Rd, left on Florence Ave to the end & jumping across Hwy 36 to the Plaza. Got to the record store & there were already 6 people waiting in line 2 or 3 hours before the store opened. In my pocket I had $20 that I pulled from my pay, I was working at Rickles Home Center pushing carts & stocking shelves for like $4 an hour. The doors opened at 10am, we all lined up at the front counter, I purchased my copy of "State of Euphoria" & a new Anthrax patch for my denim vest. Got outside, tossed the copy of "USA for MOD" in my pocket & loaded "State of Euphoria" into my walkmen & that's where it stayed for the next bit on autochange (so I wouldn't have to flip the tape manually). Brilliant Album. Came with a holagram sticker of the "NOT Man" (iykyk) that got thumbtacked on my bedroom door. BUT, ask me what I did yesterday? Lol. Meh. The only thing I could tell you for certain is I was playing around mixing & mastering my own, next musical release & texting with the people I create music with. Work, pointless convos with customers, slaving away, that was all forgotten before my head hit the pillow last night. But Music...Yes, Anthrax still RULES & Music is FU***NG MAGIC!
