Calgary, your weekend is looking very fun.

From movies under the stars and live music to markets, art, animals, festivals and family-friendly adventures, there’s plenty happening around the city from September 24 to 27.

A few highlights:

September 24 to 26: Watch movies under the stars at Drive-In Movie Nights, experience the beauty of Alberta Ballet’s Giselle, or explore Night Light, a free celebration of light and art at Central Memorial Park.

September 25: Enjoy live Chinese music and culture at the Mid-Autumn Concert at Studio Bell, or let kids get up close with fascinating cold-blooded creatures at Reptile PD Day Camp.

September 25 to 27: Browse the Calgary Fall Home Show, explore the spooky history of Halloween at Lougheed House, or enjoy the music of legendary film composer John Williams with the Calgary Philharmonic.

September 26: There’s LEGO building, Disney magic, traditional Indian art, music-making at Studio Bell, the Strathcona-Tweedsmuir Fall Market, and the Summer Sendoff at Sam Centre. Plus, Doors Open YYC offers a chance to explore some of Calgary’s most interesting spaces.

September 27: Take a favourite stuffed animal to the Calgary Zoo’s Teddy Bear Clinic, shop at The Barn Artisan Market, or find gently used children’s clothing, toys and gear at the Haysboro sale.

All aboard! Railway Days is celebrating 40 years at Heritage Park

Head to Heritage Park this weekend, Sept. 19–20, for two full days of steam trains, railway history and hands-on family fun.

Kids can try a historic handcar, explore model trains, take part in scavenger hunts and the Kids Railway Challenge, send a telegram and get up close to railway equipment. Plus, don’t miss the rare double-header, featuring both of Heritage Park’s steam engines pulling a train, and the annual demonstration of the authentic 1907 turntable!
