014, TARGETRY • Success is the double bullseye, they said from the start… But excellence is the triple-twenty to strike with your dart / Successful means you’ll go ‘til you hit. Excellent means you know you can’t miss / Excellence is special in its targetry… But a genius takes darts and invents archery / You can hit a double bullseye, it still will impress… But, to be an excellent genius… now that’s a success.

013, WINDSHIELD • To reignite your drive when you’re facing a wall, you’ll need more than your windshield to back out of the stall /
Your rearview helps when reversing the lot,
but to advance down the road, it surely does not /

Roadblocks you’ve passed become distractions instead, and each time you reflect, you lose sight of what’s ahead /
To reach your destination, your view must extend… And that’s when your windshield becomes your best friend.

012, MISTAKES • Time to get to work on these mistakes I have to fix, but as I make a bigger pile, I dig a deeper ditch. / I thought I’d patch the pit up, but a new one now exists, and as soon as I noticed it, my instinct was to switch.

Now two holes are on my hands, and neither can be filled. To dig myself out of this hole requires more than skill. / I scrape and claw the sides to climb, but fall down to the floor. I scratch and chip the walls, and now it’s wider than before.

I’m fully trapped inside this hole. I yell, I curse, I scream, but the more I do, the more I waste the air I need. / What’s the point in getting mad? Although I feel inclined… It’s silly, when each shovel mark that made this mess is mine.

A saviour stands above, I’m reluctant for their rope, but this escape plan is still better than my hope. / He pulls me to the surface, expecting gratitude for it…

But he took away my chance to say, “My hole has now been fixed.”

011, NEED • You promise you love me, yet I can’t feel or believe… / What good is your plea when the gift’s meant for me?

If love needs persuasion, what does that prove? / All this convincing?… I guess that’s for you.

You promise you love me, but actions betray / Your words may seem heavy, but do they outweigh?

If love comes from guilt, what does that prove? / You don’t love me… You just need me to love you.

010, PREPARED • I thought I was prepared, but despite my intent, I wasn’t prepared to prepare to the proper extent.

009, SHADOW • Try to shake your shadow, to your dismay, it can’t be done / The closer you get to the light, the darker it becomes.

You can’t outrun the company, no matter where you walk / You’ll appreciate your light more if you turn around and talk.
