Since opening in 1960, we have provided our members with a healthy balance of recreation, competition, and relaxation. At the Calgary Winter Club there is something for everyone of all ages and interests. Our Club is a place where families have the chance to connect and grow together through a variety of pursuits, experiences and interests.
Cocktails with Conrad — August Edition! 🍓
This month, Conrad is giving us a refreshing and light summer cocktail, the Aphrodisiac Cocktail! An elegant blend of St. Rémy brandy, fresh strawberries, apple, and pomegranate. This cocktail is fruity, lightly sweet, and perfect for hot summer weather!
Ingredients:
• 2 oz. St. Rémy
• 4-5 fresh strawberries
• ¾ oz. simple syrup
• ¼ oz. pomegranate juice
• 1 oz. fresh apple juice

This month, Conrad is giving us a fun and light summer cocktail, the Bahama Mama Mimosa! A tropical twist on the classic mimosa & bahama mama tropical rum cocktail that’s fruity and refreshing.
Ingredients:
• 2 oz. fresh orange juice
• 1 oz. coconut rum
• 1 oz. pineapple juice
• 1/2 oz. white rum
• Nugget ice cubes
• 4 oz. Prosecco
• 1/2 oz. Grenadine
• An orange slice and fresh cherry, for garnish

To mark the occasion, we’re hosting a CWC Dad Joke Face-Off to find out who has the funniest dad joke at the Club.

Meet Nicole from The Shop, one of the friendly faces that helps make the Club so welcoming!
Nicole has been part of the CWC team for 3 years. Originally from the Yukon, she and her husband made the move to Calgary for work and have now called the city home for 35 years. Together, they’ve raised two kids—a son and a daughter—who both still live in Calgary.
Before joining the Club, Nicole worked as a CPA in the oil and gas industry. Her journey to the CWC started after meeting May, whose openness and fresh ideas left a lasting impression. Inspired, Nicole looked into the Club and was drawn to the strong sense of community—especially the opportunity to connect with both Members and coworkers.
If you’ve admired the beautiful seasonal displays and festive touches around The Shop, you’ve likely seen Nicole’s creativity in action. She puts so much care into decorating for holidays and special occasions, creating warm and welcoming displays that help make the Club feel extra special throughout the year. ✨
Outside of work, Nicole stays active and adventurous. She loves playing basketball, hunting, and camping. She also has a big heart for giving back—fostering dogs through AARCS and volunteering her time whenever she can. On weekends, Nicole enjoys spending quality time with her husband and kids, making the most of family time.
We’re so lucky to have Nicole as part of our team! 💙

Introducing Charlz, a familiar smiling face from our Club Café team!
Charlz has been an integral part of the team for the past two years. His favourite part about working at the CWC is seeing his coworkers every shift and serving all of our early morning regulars.
Outside of the Club, Charlz enjoys playing video games like Art Raiders and Valo Run, and even streams on TikTok from time to time. He also has aspirations of going to school to become a computer engineer. Fun fact: Charlz’s sister, Charlene, is also part of our Club Café team!

This month, Conrad is bringing us a Classic Golden Cadillac—a creamy, delicious cocktail that tastes like a melted orange creamsicle!
Ingredients:
• 1 oz Galliano L’Autentico
• 1 oz White Crème de Cacao
• 1 oz Heavy Cream (or Half-and-Half) or Whipping Cream
• 11/2 oz Orange Juice ( freshly Squeezed)
• Garnish: Freshly grated nutmeg

Meet Patricia, our amazing Banquets Supervisor!
Patricia has been with the CWC for 5 years this August. Her favourite part of working here is the people—the staff and team create a strong, supportive, and highly respected environment. She grew up in Toronto and moved to Calgary when she was 14.
Patricia is a karaoke enthusiast and is part of the U of C Choir! Outside of the Club, she recently graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Law and Society and is headed to Queen’s University in September to study law. She hopes to practice criminal or family law long term.
We’re so grateful for her hard work, dedication, and leadership—wishing her all the best in law school!💙
