Last night, over 100 community members, policymakers, community partners, and advocates came together for our Labour Day Celebration—an evening of connection, learning, dialogue, and action.

Together, we watched Beyond the Resume — a powerful documentary highlighting the experiences of internationally trained professionals and the barriers they face in accessing meaningful employment.

We explored Services, Supports & Pathways through sharings from our speakers, Vanessa Listana from Directions for Immigrants, Lucy Reyes from the Philippine Canadian Nurses Association, MLA Lizette Tejada of Calgary-Klein, and MLA Irfan Sabir of Calgary-Bhullar-McCall.

We also celebrated the strength of community-led action. Our Bridging Legal Gaps project partners—Hope for Newcomers, United Filipino Entrepreneurs Association of Alberta, CRESS Centre, Health and Social Research Society, and Calgary Black Seniors Foundation- shared initiatives that are helping communities navigate barriers and create pathways to greater inclusion.

A special highlight was the launch of the Workers' Engagement and Knowledge Hub and Workers' Resource Kit, creating new tools and pathways to help workers access information, resources, and support.

More than anything, the evening was a reminder that every worker deserves dignity, opportunity, and a fair chance to thrive

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared your stories, and helped make this celebration so meaningful!

We are excited to invite you to our inaugural session of the Equity Literacy Series!

At ActionDignity, we believe that advancing equity begins with a shared understanding of the issues and a commitment to meaningful action. The Equity Literacy Series brings together community leaders, policymakers, service providers, researchers, and partners to deepen our understanding of equity and explore how an equity lens can strengthen leadership, decision-making, and systems change.

Beyond learning together, this first session also marks the beginning of developing an Equity Action Agenda, a shared set of practical actions and priorities that can help strengthen equity in policy, practice, partnerships, and community leadership across our sector.

This Gender Equality Week, we’re looking at the numbers behind women’s participation in the workplace, pay, leadership, caregiving and economic opportunity.

Gender equality is about more than celebrating progress. It’s also about understanding the barriers that remain—and asking what needs to change.

For racialized, Indigenous, immigrant, disabled and other equity-deserving women, gender can intersect with other systemic barriers, shaping access to employment, fair pay, leadership and safety.

At ActionDignity, we believe advancing gender equity requires more than individual action. It requires us to examine and transform the systems, structures and practices that create inequity.

When everyone can participate, lead and belong, our communities are stronger.

Last week, we brought community leaders and partners together for a Systems Change Training to explore how we can move beyond addressing individual issues and work toward transforming the systems that shape people’s everyday experiences.

Through reflection, discussion and practical learning, participants explored how systems are connected, where change can happen, and how community knowledge and lived experience can help identify pathways toward more equitable outcomes.

At ActionDignity, we believe meaningful change happens when communities come together, challenge systemic barriers and build solutions rooted in lived experience.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed your perspectives, questions and ideas.
