Ruby's Puzzle Corner

We are hosting a Social and Speed Puzzling Fundraiser in Calgary on October 17th to benefit the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation. At least 50% of the ticket cost will be donated, as well as all funds from the upcoming online auction. It is a fantastic cause and an excellent opportunity to practice for the upcoming Alberta Regionals speed puzzling competition.

I usually would redo my videos when I mess up and the sound isn't great, but Major Tom wanted to hang out on the first try so that's what you're getting! I need one of those little microphones that people use, any suggestions?

Anyway, here's an overview of Puzzle Weekend ®. I did a quick search after my video and it looks like it's unusual that I got 2 posters, so don't expect that. This puzzle was really enjoyable and I highly recommend this brand. They're available in the store, link in the bio.

This was a super fun one from Puzzle Weekend (Apéritif in Bloom, 500 Piece Puzzle). I'll be using this one as one of the puzzles that I bring to the puzzle and chat meet ups. If you're in Calgary, let me know if you'd like to come and try out this puzzle next month.

We've put together a collection of puzzles to celebrate the month of Show some love to the most loyal companions by completing a puzzle featuring a dog. Don't forget to show some love to your local rescues as well, as that's part of what dogust is about.

Something that you don't know about Ruby is that we got her from a rescue and she'd had a rough life. She was born into a rescue and was adopted into a family that I know little about. There was a tragedy and her human dad passed and her human mom ended up in a wheelchair. Unable to take care of a 1 year old aussie shepherd/border collie, Ruby was returned to the rescue.

We believe that she was adopted as a covid dog by her 2nd home since the lady only let her in the yard for 2 years with no walks! To make matters worse she also fed her a vegetarian diet with no medical need to do so. Ruby was given back to the rescue due to anxiety and behavioural issues. No kidding, I'd have behavioural issues too.

We got her at about 3 years old. It took a few years to work on her general anxiety and separation anxiety, but she's come so far! She doesn't need to be medicated anymore (her anxiety was so bad that she really needed it). She's a calm and happy dog that loves her walks and weekly visits to the private off leash park. She still says no to vegetables and probably always will (you can't blame her).
