Do kids need to navigate tricky areas to get to your front door to get a treat this Halloween? At our house we have some steep steps so we set up a table and treat station in our driveway making it accessible to all whether it is someone using a wheelchair, walking with crutches, a toddler just learning to walk - or just a part of their costume that might make it difficult. (Last year the kid on rollerblades thanked us profusely for having the table at the bottom of the stairs!)

When Roy, one of our 3-4 track volunteer instructors, won this past season’s CADS Calgary WestJet Raffle, he wanted to make sure it was a special trip. This is Susana’s first trip outside North America and they are making it count on a bus tour of Italy with 43 others from everywhere travelling from Rome to Venice and back and many points in between. Here they are starting their journey in Rome…So when you see us selling our tickets in January, you know what to do! Dreams can come true!

CADS Calgary is honoured to receive Sport Calgary’s Perry Cavanagh Sport Leadership award on behalf of 350+ volunteers and 160+ students who bring the energy to our program since 1971!

In the spirit of Perry Cavanagh and Sport Calgary, we all share the same belief that sport is for everyone and every Calgarian should have the opportunity to try different sports and get opportunities to develop in their sport(s) of choice. Because “sports” are more than the actual sport: they are community, belonging and promote well-being! Thank you Stephen Cavanagh for presenting this award on behalf of his family.

So happy to have CADS Calgary volunteer instructor, Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 sitski silver medalist and 2025 Soldier On Unconquered Award winner Adria Brochu join us to accept this award at Sport Calgary’s Celebration of Sport 2026 held at the beautiful Spruce Meadows. And let’s add t-shirt designer!

Sport Calgary’s Candice Goudie (President), Sandra Paire, C.J. Wedenig, Duncan Chan and team created a fantastic event to celebrate everything “sport” in Calgary. Jon Cornish (Canadian Football Hall of Famer) kept us all engaged - “2 claps” - with his host duties and Rob Kerr (A.K.A. Coach Santa!) moderated a star-studded panel representing Calgary’s professional sport clubs. Special shout-out to Peter Judge (CEO, Freestyle Canada) who we are all celebrating with on their win of hosting the X Games in February 2027 at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park. WinSport is a world-class venue that we are happy to call home.

Let’s keep it going and work together to ensure everyone has the opportunity to PLAY! Special thanks to Jen Goeres, (director) and Dr. David Legg (board chair) at Calgary Adapted Hub powered by Jumpstart who inspire us everyday to work together!

The Alberta Climbing Association is proud to support the Canadian Para-Climbing Summit at Calgary Climbing Centre – Rocky Mountain in Calgary, Alberta. Please join us from Sept. 17-19 for para-climbing workshops and various events, including the community climb like a para-climber competition on Saturday afternoon.

This three-day event is made possible through financial contributions from the Canadian Paralympic Committee and the Government of Canada, the producers of Making the Cut – A Canadian Para-Climbing Documentary, and our community sponsors, Mitchell Eye Centre and Mountain Equipment Co-op.
The summit brings together athletes, coaches, route setters, classifiers, volunteers, and the climbing community for para-climbing development, education, and competition.

The summit includes:

• Team Canada Para-Climbing Training Camp
• Coach and route setter development
• Classification education
• Clean sport education
• Adaptive climbing workshops
• Para-Climb Mini Competition
• Climb Like a Para-Climber community event

🎥 All Summit activities will be filmed for the Making the Cut documentary.

Congratulations Dr. David Legg on being named to the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame!

Dr. David Legg has been named to the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame. His contributions over more than three decades have helped shape adaptive and Paralympic sport in Canada and around the world. He is recognized as a leader, innovator, researcher and volunteer whose work has helped expand opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in sport and physical activity. He has served the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) in various capacities over multiple decades, including as President and board member and has also provided global leadership through the Sport Science Committee of the International Paralympic Committee and as President of the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA). Congratulations, David!
