We work closely with architects, artists, developers and contractors to plan and build world-class art, architecture, and placemaking experiences. By sharing our highly specialized knowledge and decades of industry experience, we ignite bold thinking and amplify the creative process.
What do you do when 45+ architects come to tour your shop?
Put them to work, obviously.
We had a great time hosting the team from Hobin Architecture out of Ottawa today. We kicked things off with a presentation and shop tour, then put their creativity to the test with a little “Telephone Architecture: Tactile Edition.”
The challenge: Can an idea survive the journey from design through to fabrication in silos? Let’s just say they were ready to get creative.
Thanks to the Hobin team for giving us two hours of their day, bringing great energy, and being willing to roll up their sleeves. We had a lot of fun, learned a few things, and left with plenty to talk about.
We’re excited about where a little collaboration might take us next.

Flowing Arches has arrived at Logan Landing. ❕
We’re proud to celebrate the unveiling of Flowing Arches, a new public art piece by artist Svea Ferguson, brought to life by Heavy in collaboration with Genesis.
More than a sculptural installation, Flowing Arches tells a story of welcome, movement, and connection to the land and water. The two forms stand across the pond in opposing postures—one capturing a moment of calm stillness, the other shaped by the movement of water or wind.
From the artist:
“Arches are symbols of welcome and transition—gateways that invite visitors into new spaces and experiences. You are invited to stand within each form to reflect upon your surroundings and your own connection to the land and watershed.”

Years in the making, Thunderhead — Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ National Monument — officially opens in Ottawa on August 21.
Heavy is proud to have worked alongside Pomerleau and the broader project team to help bring this ambitious vision to life through the fabrication of its complex GFRC elements. 🎆
