The Vet's Rides

Well all good things must come to an end and so too are Kaslo Kurves rides. Yesterday was spent mostly riding through the rain from Vernon to Creston. Lots of twisties but had to be careful as one rider had a bit of hydroplaning on a couple of curves.

Today we rode from Creston to Calgary with only an afternoon shower to battle with. We saw a magnificent Mountain Sheep ram coming out of Radium and then a bunch of ponies at the Hwy 40 Esso - cool.

That puts an end to the Vet’s Rides road trips for 2026. Day rides are still on the menu with later starts in the day. Thanks to all who joined us for these overnight road trips - hopefully you had a good time!!!

Day Two of our Kaslo ride landed us in Vernon BC at the end of our day. We rode from Creston to the Balfour ferry, enjoying the warm up twisties. Kaslo to Nakusp is my favorite part of this ride! Beautiful day - not to hot or cold - perfect for riding…

Day one of Kaslo Kurves is in the books. A little damp leaving Calgary but by the time we reached Fernie the sun was out and layers were peeled. Lots of deer but the highways were good.

Today we travel up to Nakusp BC and down to Vernon.

Well we are back home safe & sound. What an awesome & amazing ride. Hwy 1A, the Icefield Parkway, Columbia Icefield, Mile “0” Alaska Highway and a rather full Abraham’s Lake added the scenic details to this four day trip…

With approximately 2300 kms and with the exception of a couple of hours of light rain we had beautiful weather to ride. We saw the typical park wildlife (deer, mountain sheep and “oh look a squirrel) as well as the always welcome tourists (who like to pull U-turns right in front of you…

I want to thank everyone who came along - had a some great laughs, managed to stand around on a parking lot looking at rear tires ( you had to be there) and wonderful pie in Nordegg.

The leaves are starting to turn up north so need to setup one more travel ride. We will be hosting Kaslo Kurves again in September so stay tuned.

I’m a little slow posting here - this update is for yesterday’s ride. A shorter ride today but great roads, sunshine and scenery. Just over 400 kms to Dawson Creek from PG.

We stopped at the Alaska Hiway Mile “0” marker for the required photo op!!!

So we started our northern BC ride yesterday in a light rain… by the time we reached Banff rain had stopped and the sun made an appearance.

We travelled the Icefield Parkway with lunch in Jasper. We ran a number of most excellent roads with scenic views and tasty curves.

We managed just under 800 kms over a span of 12 hours including stops! Great day!!!

Today we will be travelling to Dawson Creek…

Hey Troops - we have a weekend ride scheduled for this coming Friday to Monday. If you are on this ride or considering attending we have changed our route.

We will travel to Prince George on day 1. On day 2 we will be travelling north to Dawson Creek (rather than south to kamploops). Day 3 we will be travelling to Hinton via Hwy 40 and Day 4 we land back in Calgary.

We rode down to the East Glacier entrance down in Montana today - although it was very very smokey the roads were twisty & pretty quiet!
